It is the 4th of October 1930 and out on the calm open ocean the ship named Gertrud Rask powered by its single steam engine and 4 sails was traveling towards the city of Hamburg. On board this ship Chad and Alfred had been speaking with one another for hours.
Throughout their talk, Chad had been extremely careful not to tell this man nothing of significance while he milked the man for all the information he was worth. To Alfreds knowledge, Chad though not holding a German name was a pure German by blood and a messenger sent to Eearth by god to guide the people of Germany to glory.
Being some godly being to this man or the entirety of Germany for that matter was not what Chad wished for, but Alfred seemed insistent on not letting this point go despite his best efforts to convince him otherwise.
Accepting his fate Chad had then started to learn the basic Information concerning this world and its state. From this conversation, he had learned of this worlds primitive state of technology and progress. In the year 1930 people apparently had not even managed to colonize their very own moon, a thing that all colonies of the Empire no matter how poor always did.
Colonizing the moon was always a must in the Empire. A planets moon was always the first line of defense and a great platform for building massive super laser cannons that made its reach and threat so great that the moon would always need to be destroyed before any landing craft could assault a planets surface. Like this moons acted as a great way to buy time for reinforcing fleets to arrive.
But most importantly the world of this time was extremely divided. There was no unified currency, language, religion or people for that matter. Everywhere even in Germany there was a divide in the people.
To a man who had lived under the rule of the Empire for all his life, this was unimaginable and unacceptable. How could humanity ever hope to conquer the stars or win against their future alien enemies if they were divided like this? It was clear that someone and some group of people needed to take the lead and make all others fall in line and unite by force if needed.
Also to his relief Charlie Chaplin had not yet risen to power and now acted as a mere comedian in a country called the United States. A country that followed a primitive form of governance called democracy or more specifically it was a democratic republic. An extremely unstable form of governance to his eyes that could not last for long.
Clearly, changes needed to be done here and since the Empress was not to arrive until the creation of New Earth it seemed that it had now fallen on him to plant the groundwork for the Empresses future Empire. He was not a rich man or a great man of significance but he just like all in the Empire had gone through its free and mandatory education system and knew the basics of what needed to be done in this situation.
But before he could learn any more the sounds of seagulls could be heard and then came the sound of the ships horn blowing, a sign that they had finally arrived at their destination. Alerted by this sound Chad out of curiosity immediately rushed to the shipdeck to see what this primitive city called Hamburgh looked like.
Coming to the deck the sight that awaited him there made his eyes widen, mouth open and questions fill his mind. In the Empire, all was grim, dark, made of metal and made to be efficient, not pretty. In the Empire, all structures of significance were built to show the authority, glory and strength of the nation.
But the scene in front of him seemed nothing like that, it was too colorful, too peaceful, happy and extremely gay.
On both sides of the river they traveled on were many small houses one or two stories tall with tiled roofs. All the houses looked different from one another and had small plots of land with some plants growing there. On the left side, the houses were close to a long thin beach where many children could be seen playing as their parents looked at the sight with smiles on their faces.
Men Swam in some kind of swimming wear as the women did the same in their strange bikinis. A strange sight to him, in the Empire most simply swam naked as such things like bikinis were mostly a thing for higher class people who would never swim in such public spaces.
Especially if you took into account the place they swam at, back and forth all around the river small boats were moving from the city in the distance to the open sea behind him.
Also, though he was far he still could see that the people on the beach all looked quite beautiful. All of them had healthy white or pale skin and luscious blonde or brown hair with some having darker shades of such hair. They also seemed to have different shades of blue, green or brown eyes with some having gray eyes.
But despite these healthy appearances, none of them seemed to have much of any muscle, everyone was skinny and weak-looking to him. Hardly any ABS could be seen in the thin men. In the Empire, people were rough-looking, and dirty, their hands had calluses, their faces werent trimmed and hairs were messy, but still.
According to the Empires doctrine, all civilians despite age, sex or status were required to attend physical training centers at least 3 times a week where they could get food for the price of physical exercise. Because of this nobody was fat and everybody had ABS and muscles. Sure they werent beautiful like the people of higher classes but they were strong and prepared to fight for their Empires glory.
Lost in thought his eyes then landed on the city. On the Left side, he could see the beachside end and be replaced by small shipyards. Although by the looks of the biggest steam-spewing ships around the shipyard seemed to be quite large. Compared to the Empires starship shipyards it seemed so insignificant.
Next to the shipyards was a vast cargo port with tens of large ships docked there. All around the cargo port, primitive cranes were unloading the ships cargo as the men sorted them by hand. Once done unloading and reloading new cargo the ships were then pulled out of port by smaller ships. Overall the scene seemed quite lively and nice.
Even though some of the ships spewed black smoke into the air and in the cities Chimneys plus some factories also spewed smoke into the air, there was no pollution to be seen anywhere. Even as they closed into the dock in the distance, the sky was blue and air breathable.
Standing next to him Alfred commented in an arrogant tone of voice by saying that this was Germanys industrial capital. But despite his comment, he just couldnt believe it. To him, an Industrial city was a place where the sun never shined, clean air was a precious commodity that one would buy with their wages and breathe through their masks. To him, an Industrial city was a place with tens of millions of people and factories that extended into the horizon on all sides.
Then a small boat came to guide our larger ship to our assigned dock where ropes were tossed to the men standing there on the dock who then tied the ship in place. The ramp lowered and Alfred with two simple leather suitcases and dressed in a black suit told me to follow him as he left the ship.
Walking to the docks I quickly sensed that something was wrong, a feeling of unease was in the air. Looking around I found that all the dockworkers eyes were on me. Seeing this I couldnt really blame them, wearing a loincloth made out of polar bear fur and a polar bear cape with the bears face visible above my head was for sure quite a strange sight, but sadly being as large of a man as I am there just wasnt any suitable clothes on the ship for me. This problem of clothes would need to be solved later on.
Uncaring of this I continued to follow Alfred through the docks onto the cobblestone street that was filled with horse-drawn wagons and some primitive cars that were transporting cargo deeper into the city and further. The city had a working train transportation system and a tram but Alfred decided to lead me further along to find a ride to his home.
Standing on the side of the street all eyes once more seemed to be on me. Looking at all the passing men on their carts and the men on the road he realized yes truly none of them held much of any muscle to them. To clear up my thought I tapped Alfred lightly on his shoulder and asked him.
" Alfred, how is it that all the men here are so small? Do people not practice weight lifting or any sort of sports to build up muscle? "
Hearing this Alfred scratched his chin as if he were not sure what it was that I said. Then he looked around and said.
" I'm sorry but I dont know what you mean by this weight lifting, but as for sports. Yes, people do practice sports here and there are groups like the Hitler Youth where people do exercise and strengthen their muscles. But if your wondering why there are none here as large as you, well that is just impossible. To be honest I think your probably the largest man in the world. I for one have never seen anyone as big as you. "
Hearing these words Chad frowned. If this was true then that meant that even these peoples means of physical exercise were primitive and in need of improvements, but most of all this meant that he would definitely draw attention to himself even without doing anything.
Standing there waiting for a carriage to arrive he then sensed many people disembarking a larger commercial ship and start to make their way towards the small taxi stop. Then from behind him came the sounds of small feet running, the laughter of children followed by a womans distressed yell.
" Berta, Claus, dont run! Come back here now! "
Turning his head to look behind himself Chad could see a blonde-haired and blue-eyed boy with a limp in his step running with his smaller, similar-looking little sisters hand small hand in his. Both of them were laughing happily as they ran, uncaring of the world around them, but something seemed to be wrong with the boy.
Not only did the boy seem to have a limp in his step but also there seemed to be a childish air around him, the boy seemed a bit too childish for his own age. A common illness in the Empire that there was no cure for.
Then the boys foot got caught on one of the cobblestones on the ground. Chad moved to stop both of their falls but too late. The boys right knee scraped the ground breaking the skin and drawing blood and as he used his right arm to soften his fall something seemed to go wrong as he fell on his side.
The boys sister having been pulled down with his brother hit her knees as well on the ground and slammed her head on the stones as well. The boy pitifully like a small child cried out to his mother as his sister did the same.
Chad kneeled down and took the girl into his right hand as he placed a hand on the fallen boy. Uncaring of his surroundings he focused his senses on the childrens injuries. In his vision, he could see red and dark spots deep in the boys head, as well as red spots in his hand and light red on his knee. The girl also had the same problem in her head and on her knees. Also, both of them had some gray spots around their bodies mixed in with healthy white spots.
He wasnt sure how this exactly worked, but he knew that the darker the color was the worse the individuals damage there was. To not draw too much attention to himself he poured his inner light straight into the two children. Immediately a small, hardly noticeable glow could be seen on the children as the dark spots on them started to slowly turn lighter.
With his eyes closed Chad focused on the process as the children feeling the light in their bodies calmed down and looked at him in wonder. Unknown to Chad a large crowd of people had formed around him. Alfred was holding all of them back as he assured them all that they were about to witness a miracle.
