Chapter 1 - An Onions Beginning

Amongst the humid vegetation of a forest, a small Clearing could be found a place where you could see the sky in all its glory.

In the middle of said clearing, lay a single onion, smaller in size with a dark purple hue to it. I say onion, however there was a bit more to him than that.

With a head, not unlike that of a humans, pointy leaf-like ears and bright lilac eyes that gazed at the dark starry sky with wonder.

The humanoid-onion lay on a clearing, surrounded by trees as tall as the sky itself. Thick enough to block it out almost completely.

With his head resting on his arms. His skin layered on itself, One of the things his species were known for were their considerable defence. It was one thing he was proud of. That and his considerable charm.

Thinking about that he let out a small self-deprecating chuckle, he didn't want to go back to the village yet, instead considering staying out past curfew.

One of the sacred rules of the village. But he didn't care about that. He couldn't. The last month had taken a huge hit on him. Unresolved feelings that he kept bottled up had been clawing their way out and he just needed time to process.

His body subconsciously found itself in a fetal position as he let out a tear, a tear that seemed to break the dam holding it all back. As he started to Sob hysterically.

Unaware of his surroundings, he cried till he slept. Staying past curfew and violating a sacred rule. Something he would regret doing for as long as he lived…

——— In a certain village——-

Away from the Clearing,

Hidden from plain sight was a place encased in glass, tempered from the heat of the sun. Stood a small settlement, filled to the brim with greenery thus adding unto the natural disguise protecting them from the outside world.

Having three levels as the structure of the settlement,( each level being separated by a large leaf that worked as a gate.) with the first being the business district, where everyone worked, it contained the marketplace, blacksmith and a library, although shabby.

The second level was the residential area, where everyone lived, the houses themselves were a mix of wood and vine, working as flats with the exception that the tenants would have to climb the vine to get inside.

The third and final level was the Royal district, anyone of royal blood would live here, this was also where guards were stationed. It was slightly smaller than the residential district but certainly did not lack any of the Grandeur.

Within the confines of a grand castle, shouting could be heard, inside a what looked to be a lounge, chairs made of leather resting next to a small pool of water. A Humanoid Onion was shouting at a Humanoid-mushroom.

"How could you let him leave, he's not ready for what's out there, what if he stumbles upon them. THINK!" the sound of a chair smashing was heard.

"Please sire, he's old enough by now and he's close enough to the safe zone of the village. They wouldn't wonder so near glass." A feminine voice was heard, trying to quell the old kings rage. His skin, weary through years of hardship and battle.

"You think he's old enough, He's not even an adult yet", the old king takes a breath, quelling the anger, worry and frustration he was feeling within, " He's the only son I have, if anything happens to him" he clenches his fist and signs. The underlying meaning clear.

Composing himself, he commands " get me Leon" to which the mushroom headed maid hurrily bows and leaves the room, intent on finding Leon, the Kings most trusted right hand man and General, more importantly, his best friend.

After she left, the king let out a long breath, tears that longed to leave his eyes but were unable to manifest. He slumped down on a chair, his form unbefitting of a king , more akin to a grieving father. " Isabel, what do i do.." he mumbled..

—————

Considering how well known Leon was, it wasn't that hard to find him, asking a few people, the mushroom headed maid, quickly found the general. Who was drinking with some fellow soldiers at a small bar, south of the residential district named angels retreat. A short respite from the training he and his soldiers put themselves through.

She signalled with her head, a curt turn.

To which Leon narrowed his red eyes in thought. His red skin, which radiated heat caused some people to be uncomfortable, but she didn't mind it.

After leading him out, she briefly explained the situation to him.

Nodding his head "The boy still hasn't returned, that's worrisome" he murmured to himself.

Somewhat lost in thought. Together they went to the kings hall. Where the king, who had composed himself, had gathered all of his best men.
