" Absolutely not, you'll just have to wait to find out what your surprise is" he replied and I felt giddy just thinking about what it could be. Hopefully it was something private with just the 2 of us.

" Just a few more steps" Jacob whispered in to my ear " lift your leg here, that's it. Now I'm going to take off your blindfold, but you have to keep your eyes closed until I say so.

" Alright" I whispered

" Now open them" Jacob said and I opened my eyes to shouts of Surprise and a whole bunch of people crowded around a room with a few paltry streamers strung up and a cake with sorry for your loss on it. " Now before you say anything about the cake, it was a last minute purchase and they didn't have anything else, so we just went with this"

I looked at Jacob dumbfounded, I hated parties, I'd told him a bunch of times and I hated surprises even more but staring at his happy smiling face, I couldn't bring myself to break his heart.

"I love it" I said as I forced myself to smile through gritted teeth.

" I just knew you would" he says giving me a hug from behind. For the next few hours, I tried to enjoy myself but it was difficult surrounded by people I barely knew because Jacob had mainly invited his friends and had forgotten to add mine to the list, seeing as i didn't have that manh friends in the first place. But I couldn't confront him about it because he'd left hours ago with his best friend, I couldn't exactly blame him for forgetting to invite my friends, football season had just started and he was extremely busy with practice being the school quarter back and all.

Later that night, I was hiding in one of the bathroom stalls to take a break from the party when 2 girls came in, I was going to leave at first but then I heard them talking and I couldn't bring myself to move or let them find out I was listening.

" I honestly don't know what Jacob sees in that girl, I mean, sure she's pretty, but that's about it" one of the voices said, I recognised the voice, it was one of Jacob's fangirls Melinda Brown.

" I heard, he's only with her because of her family's money and connections, he thinks if he sticks with her long enough, they can help him get a job after he graduates" I didn't recognize the voice, and I refused to believe what they were saying was true, Jacob loved me, he'd told me so dozens of times, the girls were just jealous of our relationship. I planned to confront them but then they left before I could gather the courage to do it.

I headed out to the party after that to try and find Melinda and her friend, but I didn't so, I eventually called it a night when the clothes started coming off the couples on the dance floor, I tried sneaking out without anyone noticing but I shouldn't have known it wouldn't be that easy, after all, nothing was ever easy for me.

I stilled in shock as I felt liquid flowing down my back and into the dress I'd chosen specially for my birthday. I turned around to see who had dumped soda on me and it turned out, I hadn't needed to look so hard for Melinda because she found me and decided it would be a great idea to dump grape soda all over me. I forced myself to hold back the tears burning behind my eyes as I stared into her smug face and high tailed it out of there trying my best to ignore the laughter ringing out behind me.

I was so busy brushing the tears out of my ears and cursing myself for being so weak as I stomped away from Jacob's dorm house that I didn't notice the car trailing me until it pulled up next to me. The back window rolled down and I stared into the most beautiful face I'd ever seen but unfortunately, the sight was ruined by the cold sneer on his lips. " Get in" he said. Even His voice was beautiful I thought before coming to my senses and remembering I had a boyfriend.

" Absolutely not"

" get in " he said with a little bit more force this time

" no way. There's absolutely no way I'm getting into a car with a stranger"

" If you're worried about the danger, then you should know its much safer to be with me than to walk around this type of neighbourhood at this time of the night"

" who the hell do you think are?" I asked him

" You're fiancé" he replied

" My what?" I asked dumbfounded and in complete disbelief " listen Mr" I said backing away from him" I don't know who you think you are but you're crazy, and this is crazy "

" If you don't believe me, then you can check your phone, the tabloids should have started releasing the news of our engagement a few minutes ago"

I don't know what was wrong with me, but I believed he was telling the truth for some weird reason, maybe it was the sincerity on his face or maybe it was how hot he looked leaning against the door of his car, or maybe it was how he towered over me and easily dwarfed my 5 foot 4 frame but I pulled out my phone and checked the notifications from the major news outlets and what I saw the made me feel like I was about to faint.
