Spark stood still, eyes wide, as he stared at the little girl before him.
With her golden twin-tails, sparkling blue eyes, button nose, and round cheeks, she looked almost like a doll come to life. His mind struggled to process what his parents were saying.
His father's voice was filled with pride as he looked from the girl to Spark.
"I always knew my son would bring me grandchildren," he said, the gleam in his eyes betraying his excitement.
"And here he was, keeping it all a secret," his mother added, nodding approvingly. "It's only natural, of course; he's of age. But he could've told us sooner."
Spark's mouth opened to protest, but his parents kept talking, their words a steady stream of praise and assumptions that only deepened his confusion.
"What are you even saying?" he finally managed, his voice shaky. "I've never… How could I have a child this old? I'm still young, I've been on my own."
