Chereads / I'm in Harry Potter Being a Demigod / Chapter 8 - "Arriving at Hogwarts"

Chapter 8 - "Arriving at Hogwarts"

Leo woke up, looked at Harry and Ron, who were already wearing their robes, and then remembered what had happened.

Once he arrived at the station, he was amazed by everything in front of him.

People wore robes as if it were something common, magical creatures walked between their owners' feet, and owls made their characteristic sound from time to time while they were in their cages.

Since he didn't have much luggage, he quickly made his way through the crowd and reached the entrance of a magnificent train.

Once inside, he found a completely empty carriage in the last rows.

He sat in one of the seats and placed his backpack beside him. Then he took out a book about monsters from mythology, not only because he liked these stories but because he didn't know when he might have to face one of them.

Not much time passed as he read. Maybe ten minutes? Before a boy entered the carriage carrying a lot of luggage. On closer inspection, it was the boy he had bumped into earlier at the entrance.

He peeked in and looked around; when he saw there was space, he asked if he could come in.

There was no one else with him, so it seemed fine.

He entered and placed his owl on the seat opposite his and quickly went out to arrange his things.

He pushed his luggage and tried to fit it into a compartment.

At first, he didn't plan to help...

But seeing how much he was sweating and how his arms trembled like spaghetti every time he pushed, he couldn't help it.

Once he helped him, he returned to his seat.

Before he sat down, the boy introduced himself.

When he learned his name, he was a bit surprised; not for the same reason as the other wizards, but because he didn't expect to meet the protagonist of the books. At least not so soon.

But he quickly composed himself; he really didn't care much about his "fame" and wasn't interested in pretending to be surprised.

After some casual chatting, they were interrupted by a pair of twins. He simply shrugged and went back to reading his book.

While he was reading... or trying to, the train began to move slowly. He settled in and prepared for a long journey.

But just as he was about to read peacefully, a red-haired boy entered, holding a rat in his hands.

At first, he was very rude and asked really stupid questions.

He couldn't help looking at him with pity; he must have been a poor kid, probably bumped his head when he was born.

Harry nodded in response to his question, and the red-haired boy sat next to him to ask more stupid questions.

Eventually, he could no longer stand it and made a sarcastic comment; it really seemed pompous to him: "Do you have to confirm someone's name so many times? It's not like he's the rich uncle who snapped his fingers and saved the universe; he's just a boy our age."

But to his surprise, the boy actually apologized and introduced himself properly.

Apparently, he wasn't a bad person; he was just a bit clumsy.

Seeing how he extended his hand in a sign of friendship, he remained silent for a while... but thinking that you shouldn't slap someone who smiles at you... or was it someone who offers their hand... Ahem! Anyway, I think you get what I mean. He also extended his hand, and they made peace.

What followed was a pleasant conversation that was interrupted by a woman passing by selling snacks.

It was just a glance, and he was enchanted: so many sweets and pastries...

"Damn... how can a demigod be so poor?" Leo thought as he remembered the crushed Big Mac menu in his backpack.

"It's not that I'm starving... it's just that I've been eating hamburgers for a whole month; now that I have so many sweets in front of me..."

Feeling the saliva dripping from his mouth, he quickly wiped it away and acted like he didn't care.

However, Harry seemed to notice something, and before his eyes, something even more shocking happened than seeing a Fury for the first time.

Harry pulled out many gold coins from his coat and dominantly said, "I want everything on the cart."

"Damn it... tyrant! I'm standing in front of a tyrant; maybe I wasn't wrong to call you Harry Stark."

But once I heard it was for everyone, I quickly looked at him kindly; in front of him, Harry at this moment was the same as a god.

I even wanted to kneel for a moment and call him dad, but thinking that if Poseidon knew this, he would have to worry about drowning every time he drank water, I decided not to do it.

After a small shock, we had a good time playing with the jelly beans while getting to know each other better.

During the course of the game, I realized what it means to be a true Emperor Ou.

As Harry tasted the jelly beans, they all had delicious flavors.

As for Ron and me... it's better not to say; I'll just say I'm glad the windows are sliding.

Hours passed, and it was getting late; we had covered a considerable distance, and while resting and looking out the windows, I saw many centaurs running through the mountains.

But when I mentioned it to Ron and Harry, they looked at me a bit strangely. Apparently, they couldn't see anything, but well, at least thanks to this, I realized something.

As long as wizards are unaware of the existence of these mythological beings, even if they are not considered 'ordinary' humans, in normal situations, they won't be able to see them unless they know about their existence and firmly believe in it.

I quickly got bored of watching the centaurs run and continued reading.

In fact, even though I say reading... the truth is that it was quite complicated.

Being a demigod in modern times comes with some side effects; among them are dyslexia and ADHD.

Seeing how the letters move around sometimes makes it very difficult to concentrate. For this reason, Leo has always struggled to be a good student.

While I tried to decipher what was written in the book, Ron caught my attention with a supposed magic trick. Of course, this 'trick' was truly magical, though looking at his wand... I don't think it worked very well.

But before he could start, a girl opened the door and asked about a frog... or something like that; I didn't pay much attention.

All my attention was on her. She had a rosy, delicate face with a great head of brown hair; she wore a wizard's robe and held her head arrogantly high.

Honestly, it was the first time Leo saw a girl so adorable and beautiful. He was dumbfounded throughout the conversation and even forgot to watch Ron's spell.

However, something that snapped him out of his daze was that the girl, as if her mouth was a machine gun, fired words mercilessly.

Leo couldn't understand how a girl as cute as a doll could say so many words so fast and in one sentence...

"Wait... did she just say that she memorized all the first-grade books?"

For a moment, I felt like I was looking at an alien. We were simply people from two different worlds...

Proving she wasn't lying, she stood up and fixed Harry's glasses with a simple spell.

While Leo thought to himself, "Learning bastard."

When she sat back down, she started rambling again, and Leo knew for the first time that this girl was more annoying than he thought.

But there was one comment that particularly bothered him.

When she told Harry that if it were him, he would read even more, he got a little angry.

"Does she think everyone has the same opportunity to read whenever and however they want?".

I haven't even read a wizard's book yet; does that mean I'm irresponsible?

I simply can't do it even if I have it right in front of me. So I couldn't help but unconsciously reply.

Apparently, the girl ignored it, but as she was leaving, she said something that annoyed him even more: "By the way, you have the book upside down, and you should stop reading fictional stories; just because magic exists doesn't mean gods do." Then she turned around and left.

"Jeje, I wondered if you would think that way if you ever encountered a mythical monster. Besides, I'm a demigod; did he just curse me with not existing?".

After that, we just chatted a bit, and I don't know when I fell asleep.

...

Leo woke from his drowsiness and quickly asked:

"Did we arrive?".

"Five more minutes. I wanted to wake you up, but Harry said it wasn't necessary," Ron said while pointing at Harry.

"Don't look at me like that, you seemed very tired."

"By the way, do you really not have a robe?".

"I do have one, I just didn't bring it with me."

...

Five minutes passed quickly; before we knew it, we had arrived at the station.

Everyone left their luggage on the train, but I refused; there was something important in mine that I couldn't afford to lose.

I slung my backpack over my shoulder and left with the rest of the students.

A huge giant called the first-year students and separated us from the older group in the school.

We walked through a lush forest; the mud was flooding us to our ankles and it was very dark.

Along the way, from time to time, the screams of some girls were heard as they encountered various insects and the soft rustling of trees swaying in the wind.

We walked for a few minutes until we reached a slightly elevated place.

"Wooosh~." With a loud sound of the wind.

In front of us appeared a narrow path; it suddenly opened at the edge of a large black lake.

And at the top of a high mountain, on the other side, with its windows shining under the starry sky, there was an impressive castle with many towers and turrets.

"No more than four per boat!", shouted the giant named Hagrid so everyone could hear.

At the lake's edge, Harry and Ron got into one, followed by Hermione and me.

Hermione and I stared at each other for a moment and then both quickly looked away.

"Has everyone boarded?".

"Come on! LET'S GO!".

The small flotilla of boats moved at the same time, gliding across the lake, which was as smooth as glass.

Everyone was silent, contemplating the great castle looming above them as they got closer to the cliff where it stood.

However, there was something that bothered Leo a lot. In the lake beneath his feet, many voices were murmuring something.

They said they were in danger, that once he woke up it would be the end for them.

These voices echoed in his head at the same time, giving him a strong headache.

"Duck your heads!", exclaimed Hagrid, as the first boats reached the cliff.

Everyone ducked their heads, and the little boats took them through a curtain of ivy that concealed a wide opening at the front of the cliff.

They went through a dark tunnel that seemed to lead right beneath the castle, until they reached a sort of underground dock, where they clambered over rocks and pebbles.

"Hey, are you okay? You look a bit pale," said Hermione, as she saw him holding his ears.

"Just what I needed; Hermione, I don't need your concern." Although it sounded a bit harsh, he wasn't in the best mood.

The girl felt a bit offended, turned her head, and didn't speak again until we reached solid ground.

Once I set foot on solid ground, I thought the voices would disappear, but no; the pain hadn't decreased at all. Gradually, it was getting worse.

So while I walked, I couldn't stand it anymore and shouted at the voices:

"Shut up already! You're so annoying!".

For a moment, there was silence in that strange passage; everyone looked at me like I was a weirdo.

As for Hermione, who was talking with a girl...

While chatting with her and boasting about her knowledge, she heard Leo's shout.

Thinking she was the closest and the only one speaking out loud, she assumed it was her.

Her eyes welled up with tears, and she quickly ran forward.

Leo was unaware of many things; he only knew that the sound in his head had gone away and that his headache had improved.

Once the voices left, he could finally pay attention to his surroundings.

And he had to face the accusing looks of the people.

"Bah, jerk."

"Huh?".
