Ned was good at hiding his emotions, what were the odds of running into Daphne's ex out here.
"Caspian, I... uh, didn't expect to run into you here," Daphne said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Caspian's smile spread across his face. "Always a pleasure Daphne." He turned his attention to Ned, his gaze lingering on the badge clipped to Ned's belt. "Ah, a lawman."
Ned's eyes met Caspian's, his expression neutral. "Is it that obvious?"
Caspian chuckled. "The whole observation demeanor, plus the badge on your belt doesn't exactly scream subtle, Sheriff." He nodded towards the badge,
Ned's lips twitched, his voice low and smooth. "Guess not."
"She's got a type apparently." Caspian winked at Daphne.
Daphne's face flushed, her eyes darting between Caspian and Ned. "Stop it."
Caspian's smile returned, his brown eyes glinted with mischief.
