-Well it doesn't matter, now we have to prepare for the next test.
Just when Yasuke was about to question her a chunin appeared and announced the beginning of the third and last test.
-All right brats, the last test will be in pairs, when it's your turn you will go to the 3D classroom where you will be asked some questions.
A few minutes passed and Yasuke and Tsume's turn came, they passed through the classrooms and arrived in front of the door with the 3D sign.
They knocked on the door and a voice was heard inside.
-Go ahead
As they passed the two saw a chunin with a long raincoat of color veis, along with a pair of sunglasses.
-Hello, I am Kuwagata Aburame and I am your examiner for the last test.
"Mmm one of the Aburame clan, they are known for their use of insects in battle and their intelligence second only to the Nara clan, they are strong in ranged battles and weak in melee"-Yasuke thought.
-Well go ahead, I'll answer more questions than you Yasuke.
-Yasuke could only sigh and roll his eyes.
-Hey don't ignore me
Just when Tsume was about to continue yelling the Aburame clan chunin stopped her.
-You should leave this discussion for another time if what you want is to pass, if not please leave the classroom and give way to people who want to enter the ninja academy.
His tone-deaf voice with a weird creepy feeling made the annoyed Tsume shudder and shut her mouth.
-Very well now that I have your attention I will proceed to start the test.
And with that said she started to read the papers she had on one of the nearby tables in the classroom.
-The test will consist of three questions, these must be answered correctly or you will not pass the test, you can fail only once in the whole test, good luck, if you have any doubts please refrain from asking them.
-Mmm, so three questions, I guess they won't be that easy?
-Questions? Jo I want more physical tests, I was sure I could beat Yasuke in the next one.
Yasuke could only roll his eyes when he heard Tsume's reaction.
-*sigh* I guess we are ready for the test, start whenever you want examiner.
-Okay, here the first question If a child from a civilian family is born in a village near Kumo, but at the age of 2 his family moves to Konoha, where did he get his teeth?
Yasuke's face changed visibly, this was not the kind of question he expected.
"How is it possible, this question is too advanced for children who have not studied, maybe the clans taught advanced knowledge to their children, but, civilians should not have this kind of knowledge"-Yasuke thought.
As he turned his head and saw Tsume's face with a frown trying to think of an answer he knew that possibly only he had such knowledge at that age
"According to my knowledge civilian children are normal children, comparable to those in my world though somewhat tougher, based on this I think I should develop them at 6 months, that is in the village near Kumo"
Just as Yasuke was about to say his answer to the instructor, Tsume seemed to wake up and confidently shouted out.
-In his mouth, his teeth grew in his mouth.
Yasuke who heard this simple and according to him, a silly answer, fixed his gaze on the examiner's body, but he couldn't perceive anything from him
"Shit, just when I already had my answer, I didn't go too fast, and we just missed the chance to miss one."
-The answer is...
Just when Yasuke thought he was going to hear the examiner's sentence
-correct
-Huh? -Yasuke was puzzled.
-Yes, let's go! - A cheerful Tsume exclaimed.
"How is that possible, it doesn't make sense that answer!"
-Haha, I got it right, I'm winning Yasuke.
-Mmm, it's not a competition Tsume, we're doing the test as a team," replied a stoic Yasuke.
-Haha, you're just saying that because you didn't know the answer.
-I was thinking about it, as ninjas we shouldn't be impulsive.
-Quiet, please, I'm going to say the second question.
"Well, now I must answer the question, even if I won't admit it, I don't want to be defeated by an 8 year old girl"- Yasuke thought.
-What does it take for a ninja to light a candle?
"Mmm, surely the answer will be something like a fire jutsu, or a lightning jutsu that produces a spark."
Yasuke glanced sideways at his companion, she seemed to be thinking, her brow furrowed and her eyes fixed forward
"I guess she won't have the same luck to respond well this time."
Yasuke determined to give his answer stepped forward and addressed the examiner
-Instructor, the answer is-" but Yasuke was interrupted by a feminine scream in the back of his head.
-That the candle is extinguished
Yasuke froze when he heard this answer, it was a silly and basic answer, which his mind decided to ignore.
Now hearing it and remembering the answer of the previous question he doubted, he even wished that even if they lost the option to fail, Tsume's answer was wrong.
But to Yasuke's bad luck, this did not seem to be the situation, because after a few seconds of silence the examiner announced his answer
-That's correct
-Haha, there you go, it's already 2 to 0, this time I beat you.
-Mmm, well, you didn't let me answer, so it's no good.
-Oh, looks like the stoic boy is a little upset about losing.
A blush of embarrassment momentarily appeared on Yasuke's cheeks, but they were quickly controlled by the boy in the speckled hat
-Ahem, please examiner the next question.
-All right, if you are already prepared, what must happen for a group of civilians with a single umbrella not to get wet?
"This question is surely like the others, it must have a silly and unexpected answer"-While thinking about that Yasuke seemed to have an idea in his head.
-I know, the answer is, don't let it rain.
-The answer is correct.
Beside him Tsume who heard the answer pursed her lips.
Yasuke seeing her like that smiled and laughed, but his smile froze when Tsume opened her mouth and spoke to him.
-Well we left it at 2 to 1, my victory.
And after that said before Yasuke could answer, the examiner announced
-Very well, you can go now, these questions not only evaluated your knowledge, but also your ability to think laterally and not underestimate the simple, if you have passed the tests you will receive an announcement of the day and time of the starting classes of the ninja school, you can go now.
The two children nodded and left through the door.
Once outside it was Tsume who started the conversation
-Well Yasuke, I'll see you at the academy, I have to go, today is the day I adopted my own ninken.
-Mph, good luck I guess
-Haha, bye bye stoic boy
To be continued...
Dear readers,
First and foremost, I want to thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm for my fanfic. Getting to chapter 40 has been an incredible journey, and your feedback is invaluable to me. I've noticed that chapter 8 has generated some mixed reactions, and I want to take a moment to address your concerns and share a bit of the reasoning behind the decisions I made in that chapter.
In chapter 8, the questions presented in the test may have seemed too simple or out of place within the context of a serious ninja exam. However, my intention in writing that scene was twofold. On one hand, I wanted to create a moment of comic relief, something that would lighten the tension a bit and give the characters and you, the readers, a break. On the other hand, the simplicity of the questions served a specific purpose in developing the relationship between Yasuke and Tsume.
Yasuke, who up until this point had shown a lot of confidence in his intellectual abilities, suddenly finds himself baffled by what seem like obvious answers, but which hadn't crossed his mind. This not only serves to remind Yasuke (and all of us) of the importance of humility, but also to underline that the simplest answers are sometimes the most accurate. Through these interactions, I wanted to show a more human and less predictable side of the characters, enriching their team dynamic.
I understand that the choice to present such simple questions may not have been to everyone's liking, and I apologize if that caused any frustration. I assure you that every decision in the narrative has a purpose, and I greatly appreciate your feedback, as it helps me improve as a writer and ensure that the story remains entertaining and coherent.
I'm going to review the chapter and see how I can adjust it so that the intention behind those scenes is clearer, without losing the essence of what I wanted to convey. I deeply appreciate your patience and commitment to this story.
Thank you for being with me on this journey, and I hope you continue to enjoy what's to come!
With gratitude, AraXiel_21
