Linda POV
I hugged Maya tightly, I felt a sense of
determination wash over me. I knew that I had to figure out what to do next, not just for myself, but for my daughter's sake as well. I couldn't let John's betrayal define our lives.
"Maya, sweetie, I need to talk to Dad about some things," I said, trying to sound calm. "Can you go play in your room for a bit?"
Maya nodded, looking concerned, but she knew better than to push me when I was like this. She hugged me again and then headed to her room, closing the door behind her.
I took a deep breath and then went to find John. He was in his study, staring at his computer screen with a blank expression. I knew he was waiting for me to confront him again.
"John, we need to talk," I said, my voice firm.
He looked up at me, his eyes filled with a mix of guilt and defensiveness. "I know, Linda. I'm sorry. I can explain-"
