Chapter 18 - Bye littermate!

(THIRD PERSON'S POV)

Rhea was really unsure of what exactly had just happened. All she could think of was that she felt a shot of adrenaline through her veins and immediately, the iron which she had just withdrawn from her insides was used to stab the Kralin in the neck.

The creature stopped just as it's claws dug in to Rhea's shoulders and she gasped at the pain. The Kralin was quiet for a second and then it screeched very loudly. Rhea pushed the iron deeper while she stared in to the slimy yellow eyes of the creature.

It screeched again and staggered backwards. Rhea cried as it's claws came out of her skin, pulling away while it fell back on its wings wheezing for breath. The iron was still stuck in the neck of the Kralin and Rhea was leaned against the rubble. Her body was overcome with sudden weakness but she could lift her eyelids well enough to see Hori standing and looking at her with her eyes wide opened.

She looked frozen and shocked.

Rhea could hear approaching feet but her body felt so pained that she could not move. And then she felt someone's gentle touch and heard Jodie's cries .

"Oh bless you child. Bless you child. May the brothers bless you." Jodie said crying and then she bit her own skin deeply with her teeth and poured her blood on Rhea's deep wounds.

If burnt Rhea and she cried as Jodie's blood dripped on her skin .

"You can be punished for doing that." Hori interrupted taking a step forward.

Yes, Jodie could be punished for that. She had special healing powers and so, she was gifted with using her blood to save weaker ones like humans or slow healing wolves. But it was only allowed when authorized by seniors in the pack.

"I can take being punished. She saved our lives." Jodie said. She turned to look at Hori, "she saved your life."

Hori snorted and looked away. She knew that it was true. Rhea had pushed Hori out of the way and she had gotten crashed in to the building. Rhea was in a lot of pain and she winced endlessly .

There was some pack members that seemed to be approaching the scene

now. Hori hissed at them.

"Take her away, to the gardens with the young ones. I'll handle them." Hori said.

Jodie was surprised that Hori was helping out but she did not give it as much of a thought, she picked up Rhea's weak body and ran away.

Hori tore her clothes and scattered her hair. The pack members soon arrived and there was a lot of talk and fear about the almost lifeless Kralin on the ground.

"I had to save the children. I was scared but I had to do something." Hori said to them with a feigned expression on her face.

She was of course taking glory for being the one who almost killed the Kralin on the ground.

A security guard told her that he would report this matter to the Alpha immediately. The other pack members were terrified. Asides from fifteen years ago when the war started , they had not had to deal with a Kralin in the day time not to talk of one in the residential areas of the werewolves.

News soon spread throughout that a middle sized Kralin had attacked the orphanage during the day time and it had been killed by one of the daughters of Lillith.

Hori was quick to give her mother the news the moment she got home. Her mother did not look as impressed as she would have expected and she stood up from her seat.

"What exactly did you say? Start from the begining." Lillith ordered as she gripped the hem of her dress and began to pace about. She usually did this when she was thinking about something very important.

Her daughter began talking from the begining and Lillith raised her hand for a pause in the story when she heard the part about Rhea getting dropped off by the Alpha's team this morning.

Lillith was silent and she narrowed her eyes. She wanted to curse but she knew that she had to act fast. She had a good idea of what was going on between the Alpha and her step daughter.

"Where is she?" She demanded.

"Who? Rhea?" Hori asked surprised that her mother was overlooking the fact that everyone thought of her as a hero.

"Yes, Rhea! Where the hell is she?" Lillith's asked in impatience.

"She is with the keeper of the orphanage. Last I checked, I don't know. I mean the orphanage is destroyed so they could be anywhere."

Hori said with a shrug and then she recoiled scared when her mother growled back at her in response.

"You were busy claiming a stolen victory that you could not think to bring Rhea here to me!" She exploded!

Lillith hated everything that was going on at the moment. She hated the fact that she had just been told that Rhea had killed a Kralin.

"That witch!" Lillith said bitterly.

Yes, Witchcraft, that could be the only reason why things were going on this way. That was the only reason why she was getting a chance to meet with the Alpha despite Lillith's efforts.

"You say that she killed the Kralin. Did you see it clearly?" Lillith asked.

Hori was silent for a second as she let the scene replay in her head. As she did, fear gripped her heart and her skin was filled with goosebumps.

"I did," Hori admitted and she wished she had not. But she had seen Rhea pull out some metal or iron from her stomach and stab the Kralin as it lunged at her.

"Is she badly injured?" Lillith's asked and Hori nodded

"I think she may have died if the keeper did not heal her immediately ma." Hori said

Lillith hissed in disappointment .

"What a waste of an opportunity." She thought to herself.

"Come on." She then ordered to Hori. "We must find her at once! Before anyone else does."

Her voice was stern and serious and Hori bowed her head immediately. As their mother walked away, she turned to her twin sister.

"Now look at who is going to be meeting with the Alpha for a thank you." She said with a wink and a sneer. "Bye litter mate !"
