Chapter 30 - page:30

The days that followed the heated confrontation saw a shift in the dynamic between Alex and Maya. Maya began to see glimpses of the man behind the fearsome facade, a man capable of love and tenderness. Alex, in turn, found himself falling more deeply in love with Maya, his feelings for her growing stronger with each passing day.

One sunny afternoon, Maya decided to sit by the pool, enjoying the warm rays and the calming sound of the water. She was lost in her thoughts, reflecting on her complicated feelings for Alex. Despite his harsh exterior and the violence that seemed to follow him, she had seen a different side of him—one that cared deeply for her.

Unbeknownst to Maya, one of the maids, who had been harboring jealousy and resentment towards her, saw this as an opportunity. The maid had been seething with envy ever since Maya had taken a central place in Alex's life. Her eyes glinted with malice as she approached Maya, who was completely unaware of the impending danger.

With a swift, forceful push, the maid sent Maya tumbling into the pool. Panic set in immediately as Maya struggled to stay afloat, her arms flailing helplessly in the water. She couldn't swim, and the realization of her predicament filled her with terror. Within moments, her strength gave out, and she began to sink, losing consciousness as water filled her lungs.

Meanwhile, Alex was inside the mansion when he overheard a commotion near the pool area. Something in the pit of his stomach told him that something was wrong. Without a second thought, he sprinted towards the pool, his heart pounding with fear.

As he reached the pool, his worst fears were confirmed. He saw Maya's still form beneath the water's surface. Without hesitation, Alex dove into the pool, his powerful strokes bringing him to her side in seconds. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to the surface, cradling her limp body against his chest.

He quickly carried her out of the pool and laid her on the ground, his heart racing with desperation. She wasn't breathing. Driven by sheer panic and love, Alex began to administer CPR, his hands pressing down rhythmically on her chest.

"Come on, Maya," he muttered, his voice breaking with emotion. "Please, breathe."

After what felt like an eternity, Maya coughed, water sputtering from her mouth as she gasped for air. Relief flooded through Alex, and he continued to help her, his own breaths coming in ragged gasps as he supported her head and whispered words of comfort.

"It's okay, Maya. You're safe. I've got you."

Maya slowly opened her eyes, disoriented but alive. She looked up at Alex, who was drenched and trembling, his eyes filled with a mixture of relief and fear. Despite her weakened state, she could see the depth of his love for her in that moment, a love so powerful it had driven him to save her life without a second thought.

Alex held her close, his arms wrapped around her protectively. "You're going to be okay," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "I won't let anything happen to you."

Maya nodded weakly, her own feelings for Alex growing even stronger. In that moment, she knew that despite the danger and the darkness surrounding him, her heart belonged to him. They were bound together by something stronger than fear or circumstance, a love that could withstand even the gravest of threats.

As Alex held Maya, his resolve hardened. He would find out who had tried to harm her, and he would ensure that she was safe from any future threats. He had already lost too much in his life; he couldn't afford to lose her too.
