Chapter 25 - In the Face of Danger

Thea, a diligent scholarship student at Empire City University, walked alongside her friend Charlotte Wright. Charlotte dominated the conversation, her words flowing effortlessly, while Thea listened intently.

Thea had spend countless hours studying, the sacrifices she'd made, and the relentless drive that had earned her a coveted spot at this prestigious institution.

"And speaking of stress, how's your coursework going? You're always so on top of things."

"It's...a lot of pressure. I don't want to let my scholarship down."

"Thea, you're an amazing student! You earned that scholarship with your hard work and dedication."

"Charlotte...Just being here is a dream come true. I don't want to let anyone down, especially myself."

Charlotte says, "Let's meet up for coffee and hash out this assignment."

"I'm in."

Charlotte Wright, a dazzling beauty, is the undisputed queen of the affluent elite, residing in a sumptuous estate that embodies the essence of luxury and refinement, and serves as the epicenter of high-society gatherings.

One fateful day...

Charlotte trudged down the road, her feet heavy with frustration. She had refused her grandmother's offer of a chauffeur, needing some time alone after their argument. But now, as she walked alone, she felt vulnerable.

Suddenly, a group of hooligans stepped out of the shadows, their lewd comments and snickers making her skin crawl.

"I'm going to call the police."her hand instinctively reaching for her phone. But she patted her pockets in vain, realizing she had left her phone at home.

"Damn it.."

The hooligans burst out laughing, their taunts growing louder. "Oh, she's going to call the police! "

Charlotte's face flushed with fear as the hooligans closed in. But just as they were about to overpower her, a sudden movement caught their attention.

Thea, out for a stroll, witnessed the harassment and sprang into action. "Leave her alone!" she shouted, brandishing a brick in her hand.

Her heart raced, but Thea refused to back down. She couldn't abandon the frightened girl to these predators.

The hooligans, emboldened by numbers, closed in. One sneered, his eyes locked on the brick.

"You think that's gonna save you?" he jeered. "We'll take that brick and—"

Thea's grip tightened.

"Oh, another little girl came to help. We're going to have a lot of fun."

The hooligans sneered as Charlotte stood tall, her eyes blazing with defiance. "Don't come close to us..." she warned.

One thug laughed. "Oh, she thinks she's tough. What are you going to do, call your mommy?"

Charlotte's voice took on a subtle edge. "You don't know my family."

The hooligans roared with laughter. "Oh, we're shaking in our boots..." one mocked.

Thea stepped forward, brick in hand. "Leave us alone."

Charlotte's gaze never wavered. "We mean it. Back off."

The hooligans' laughter died down, eyes locked on them. One of them, fueled by bravado, took a step forward.

Before he could close in, Thea swung the brick with precision, striking him squarely across the cheek. The sound of impact echoed through the air.

"Aah... You bitch ..J..just you wait...!" the hooligan cried out, clutching his cheek.

The others froze, momentarily stunned. Their leader's eyes streamed with tears of pain and rage.

Charlotte gasped, shocked. "Oh my god..."

Thea stood firm, brick still in hand, gaze unwavering.

The sound of sirens pierced the air.The hooligans sneered, but Thea stood her ground. "I've already informed the police earlier."

The hoodlums' eyes went wide with alarm, and they turned heel, sprinting into a nearby laneway.

But before they could react, the sound of sirens pierced the air, and the police cars screeched to a halt beside them.Officers jumped out to assist. "Are you girls okay?" one of them asked, eyeing the scene.
