Chapter 14 - Dream Come True

Ryder's gesture was elegant. Thea intuited the gravity of his family's lineage, the Thomson empire, and the obligations that came with it. She felt a quiver in her heart, her mind flooded with curiosity. What was it like to uphold the stature of a billionaire family's tradition?

As they settled in, the dining room manager, impeccably dressed, approached with a courteous smile.

"This evening's highlights include the grilled salmon and the prime filet."

Ryder's gaze locked onto Thea's. "We'll require a brief moment, thank you."

Thea's heart fluttered, her awareness intensified as she surrendered to the luxurious ambiance, the refined attention, and the mesmerizing presence of the man beside her. She felt transported to a realm of unparalleled luxury, where wealth and prestige reigned supreme.

As Ryder handed her the menu, his fingertips grazed hers, igniting a thrill of excitement within.

"Order anything you like."

Thea's pulse faltered. "Please, you decide. I'm open to anything."

Her heart trembled, her eyes mesmerized by his. Ryder's gaze lingered, a whisper of a smile on his lips.

"As you wish." he said, his eyes traversing the menu. "I'll select for us."

He chose the pan-seared salmon, cooked to perfection and served with a citrus-herb sauce, for himself. For Thea, he selected the wild mushroom risotto, creamy and rich, with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.

"You'll love this." he said.

Thea's eyes dilated in astonishment as the dishes arrived, the scents swirling up to entice her senses. She was stunned by Ryder's uncanny selections.

"How did you know?" she asked, her voice laced with admiration.

Ryder's face creased into a warm smile. "I notice the details.." he said, his tone smooth and velvety.

Thea's heart faltered as she took her first bite, the flavors unfolding on her palate. Ryder's gaze held hers, his eyes aglow with an ardent intensity that sent shivers down her spine.

At just 15, Thea possessed a poised elegance, her curves and features ripened beyond her years. Her dark brown hair was styled in an updo, revealing her luminous complexion and rose-tinted lips. She was a radiant beauty.

The dishes cost a fortune, but for the Thompson family, it was mere pocket change.

"So, you're still determined to go to Scotland?"

"Yes, I have to go." Ryder replied, his gaze intensifying, his jaw set in determination. "I can't let this opportunity slip away."

"What time is your flight?" Thea asked, her brow furrowed in worry.

"At 6 a.m..." he replied, his eyes locked on hers, as if seeking her understanding.

Just as Thea was about to say something, Ryder's phone rang, interrupting their conversation.

"Excuse me, Thea." he said, stepping away to answer the call.

While Ryder stepped away, Thea's gaze swept the restaurant, taking in its elegant charm. Soft light danced across the walls, and crystal chandeliers cast tiny, shimmering shadows. Above, a beautiful mural transformed the ceiling into a work of art.

Thea felt as though she'd entered a luxurious palace, surrounded by treasures. Her eyes widened in wonder, her mind absorbing the splendor.

Solo at the table, Thea's gaze roamed the restaurant's sumptuous crystal decor, her eyes shining with astonishment.

'Dining in a place like this is a dream come true.' she reflected.

When Ryder returned, their eyes connected, and he offered a remorseful smile.

"Forgive me, Thea..You have to wait alone."

"It's okay, Ryder.." Thea replied, her expression softening. "I understand."

Outside Ryder's car, Thea flashed a wry smile.

"Thanks for the luxurious meal, Ryder. Your family's riches certainly make it easy."

Ryder's face broke into a warm smile.

"Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, my family's wealthy, but I don't take money for granted."

"Are you still angry with me?"

Thea sighed, her expression a mix of frustration and amusement.

"Then would I be talking to you now, Ryder?"

"Good point. I thought you are still angry with me."
