Chapter 1 - That One with the Best Match!

Foreword: This is a project designed to try and develop my writing skills. The idea with this Novel is to try and keep the original dialogue from the show the same, with the exception of adding lines with the purpose of description or exposition, that can not be portrayed due to this being a novel and not a TV show! That being said, I do not own any rights to Kamen Rider and will do my best to stay true to the original media and story! Thank you to all involved with Kamen Rider and other fans, I will try to do my best as I adapt Kamen Rider Build!

NOW! Shall we begin the experiment!?

"10 years ago, we Japanese succeeded in landing our astronauts on mars. We made a mysterious discovery, in a mysterious building that our explorer probes were not able to see from orbit…. Inside the building was a box that was never meant to be opened, we dubbed it Pandora's Box."

A middle-aged man with a goatee and sideways slicked hair paused his monologue. His dark eyes that had been adrift focused back to the woman that sat across the table from him, she had a pen in one hand that was furiously jotting down his words into a red notebook.

He continued to speak after she caught up.

"That began this nightmare, the tragedy of Sky Wall."

He then moved his head to look left, instigating the young lady journalist to look right.

Both of them now gazed out through the large windows that walled the room where they were talking in, far in the distance, loomed a massive wall, taller than any buildings, a large red energy barrier capped the top like a flaming crown.

"I was there, I still remember the terror of that day…"

The young lady looked shocked and couldn't help but interrupt.

"You were there Mr. Himuro!?"

"Yes, and please, call me Gentoku." The man smiled slightly and then his eyes drifted away again, imagining the scene he had witnessed all those years ago.

"It happened during the Martian exploration ceremony, hosted by the Institute of Space Engineering Technology. I was there in my father's place. A rousing speech was being delivered about the mysteries of space, aliens and how the Pandora's box may help solve them, until it was interrupted by one of the security guards…or what seemed to be one."

Gentoku went on to paint a picture for the reporter, he explained how that fake security guard had rushed past 2 real security members before fighting with one more and successfully slapping the top of the square, grey box on display after pushing its glass cover away.

"What happened next?!"

Gentoku tilted his head slightly as his eyes were drawn back to hers again.

"A blinding white light was emitted by Pandora's box and 3 red lights shot aways from it while the ground shook. Everyone panicked and tried to run away but it was too late for the poor souls closest to the podium near the box…they were launched into the air as the earth roared and split our original country into 3. You know the rest."

A glass was brought to Gentoku's lips before he carried on.

"Er hem. That giant wall appeared from nowhere…. The 'Sky Wall' caused the rise of the current 3 governments that lord over each piece that is separated by the wall. There's Hokuto of the Northern section, they ended up relying on strong social welfare; The business oriented economic powerhouse of Seito to the West and finally, the ever-peaceful region of Touto in the East…. Tensions slowly started to rise…our country was now truly divided, in more than one way."

The sharp looking man moved his hand from the grey collar of his uniform to his chin.

"Even outside countries tried to stir the pot and gain control…but more importantly than any of that….is solving the mysteries of that box…"

Gentoku stood up and walked towards the other side of the room and looked down to the floor below of the building they were in.

His line of vision was met with a large 6x6 foot enclosure, it had a black bottom and yellow top, with a small two-foot-wide viewing slit in the front. Several armed guards surrounded it and a couple of the building's employees sat nearby with clipboards.

Gentoku's eyes narrowed as a man wearing a beige trench coat rushed up to the enclosure before the guards could even react!

The two guards slightly relaxed as they noticed this man was a non-threat. His face was plastered against the glass of the view slit and the visitor was clearly geeking out as he rambled to himself.

"So, this is Pandora's Box!...I've never seen a material like this!"

As he peered inside, a bright blue glow came off the box, it reflected onto his face and illuminated his huge curious eyes.

The guard had to take a double look before he stared forward again, he could have sworn this strange guy's hair had gone erect, as if his brain was excited and trying to show it!

'Hhhmm…I need more sleep' he thought to himself.

Before the guard could focus on someone else in the lobby, the strange guy was in his face, pointing at the enclosure he had just been looking into.

"What is it made out of?!"

When the young man pestering the guard didn't get an answer, he turned to the clipboard carrying employees and asked them the same question.

Up above, Gentoku was about to turn and go find out about this visitor until an assistant with fancy looking glasses beat him to it. The assistant brushed by the young lady and reported to his boss, "He asked if we were still hiring researchers….and when we had him take the entrance exam…. He got every question right!"

The assistant arched one of his eyebrows and nodded at Gentoku, as if to add his approval.

Gentoku turned away from the other man, looking back down at the person that had surprising achieved 100 percent accuracy.

"It's quite a hard test…" Gentoku mused to himself while stroking his goatee.

"Excuse me…" The reporter didn't want her subject to get distracted right before the end, so she positioned herself in front of the man she had been interviewing, wanting to get one more question in before she left.

"My last question is how you feel about Kamen Rider?"

She smiled at Gentoku very cutely, leaning in towards Gentoku slightly.

He looked at her up and down, eyes finally resting on hers. When she knew she had his attention again, she fished through her handbag for a moment and produced a photograph while saying "There have been reports in Touto…of an unidentified lifeform…."

Her attractive face got serious and scrunched up slightly, holding up the photo so the two in front of her could see for themselves.

The picture was taken in what looked like a parking garage, the figure was slightly blurry, despite the rest of the picture being clear, indicating that the creature was moving at a relatively high speed. It looked humanoid, was white and blue in color while having lots of jagged portions and an overall pointy appearance to it, as if its body and limbs were covered in big blue and white needles.

"…Lifeform known as 'Smash' attacking people…and that mysterious hero know as 'Kamen Rider' always steps in to save them!"

The reporter's gloomy face turned into smiles again soon as she mentioned the hero in question standing up to these 'Smash' creatures.

Gentoku walked around to her other side, while saying, "That's interesting…"

He then grinned, putting his arm around her and started walking her towards the elevator to leave. While doing this he leaned in and said, "How about we get a hotel room…and we talk about it till morning?"

After saying this, he leaned away from her slightly, grinning even wider before putting his hands in his pockets and chuckling slightly at his own teasing.

She smiled back and walked with him for another whole 3 paces before she stopped in her tracks, finally understanding what he had meant by 'hotel room' and 'till morning'

"WHAT!?" She exclaimed, looking shocked

The rest of the people in the lobby all looked over as she yelled, face flushed. There happened to be more people up there than usual, as a group of school kids were on a field trip with their teacher, it also happened to be a shift change, so there were lots of other employees rushing around as well!

Gentoku merely laughed, pleased with his joke and kept walking her towards the door. The way he had posed question seemed half like he was joking and half like he was fishing…the young lady that had come to interview him was quite gorgeous!

A couple of hours later, the cute reporter found herself on the docks near the shipping yard. This was the area where the Smash she had been talking about had been spotted.

Instead of agreeing to play kiss and tell with Gentoku, she had decided to go find clues and answers to her own questions.

She was currently distracted from looking, as her editor had called her. She filled him in with the details.

"What was that pervert thinking…Huh!?...What do you mean go to the Hotel?!...MR. EDITOR IN CHIEF!?"

The last part of the call before she hung up had been delivered with the phone turned to face her head on, as if her point would get across more efficiently as she chewed him out with a yell directly into the speaker!

She shook her head, slightly annoyed at these boorish men she had to deal with and started to walk back way from the end of the pier. As she set out, she looked down at her handbag and unzipped it, so that she could put her phone, now a source of annoyance, into the bag and just head home for the night.

While looking down she suddenly bumped into someone in front of her, she bounced off and hit the floor, her bag and its contents spilling out on the ground, cell phone falling to the side. She picked up the phone and looked up while starting to apologize for walking into this stranger blindly.

"Im sorr…ah you're…a Smash?"

As she looked up from her half-crouched position, she was startled to find the blue and white creature in the photo that had been shown earlier was standing right in front of her!

The Smash must have been attracted to her yelling at her boss earlier! It was standing still for the moment, so she could see what it looked like clearly, it was much more menacing in person than in the photos. The photos never captured the true hostility these mysterious things projected!

The creature's body looked tough, like it was armored and had many spikes on it. Its shoulders were like large sharp armored shields, resembling blades pointed forwards from the front, but shield like from the side. Everything about this monster was angular and aggressive.

Its head was triangular, like a cross between a fighter jet and a raven's head, while its eyes appeared to be like the visors or lenses belonging to a helmet or googles; they were gleaming, she could tell they were trained on her too!

Despite her initial fear, the desire to find out and tell the truth prompted her to try and use her cell phone to record the beast in front of her!

She lifted her phone up to get a better angle and the Smash reacted immediately! It smashed her with one swift backhand, knocking her to the rough wooden floor of the pier harshly!

It raised its arm and hand while it stood over top of her, a finger was raised from its grotesque fist and a large 6-inch long, razor sharp nail was exposed swiftly, as if it was nature's switchblade! Before the arm could be brought down on the dazed woman, an angular shadow fell on the Smash and addressed it.

"Hold on a second, ugly."

The Smash spun around and tried to strike this new voice that was behind it, however, before it could even move its arm down an inch, a red and black armored glove and gauntlet stopped it. The fist tightened and threw the smash by its arm away from the woman.

With a spin, the Smash started to halt its momentum, but the assailant that had tossed it gave it no chance to regroup. The Smash finished one rotation and its attacker came into its line of vision.

A warrior in an impossibly tough looking black suit, covered with blue and red intersecting yet separated light armor plating was flashing towards the Smash faster than it could deal with!

The lenses on the armored man's helmet matched the scheme of the suit, one was red, and one was blue, both trailed off to make a v shape. They glowed brightly and had small, honeycomb like hexagon patterns on them. A yellow handled sword with a large gauge on the hilt appeared in the sleek looking warrior's hands. This sword had a large triangular cone-shaped drill bit that had a luster dark grey color instead of a blade. Halfway up the weapons business end there was a yellow ring and the very tip of it was an very finely pointed yellow tip.

He lunged forward with an extremely fast horizontal swing to the right and slightly upwards towards the monster's midsection, followed by another horizontal swing back left and down slightly, his drill blade returning to his original stance as sparks were drawn from both swings, bouncing off the tough looking Smash creature.

The way it staggered back was the proof needed to tell it had been hurt from that!!

The mysterious fighter's helmet lenses gleamed from the light of the sparks as he leapt forward to engage again! This time the sword came from the left to start, it was barely blocked by the thick armor plate on the left hand of the Smash, it then attempted to retaliate by throwing a strong punch with its right hand but right before it connected, the leg with the red colored armor on the warrior lashed out with much faster speed! The leg push-kicked the Smash backwards several meters, more sparks flying from its chest!

The monster leapt forward and tried to punch the infuriating opponent with his same strong right fist, this time with added power from the leap to make it even more devastating!

The red and blue warrior stood his ground and did not move a single inch when he intercepted the blow with his left fist. He caught the Smash's right hand and planted the creature back on its feet from its previous airborne position, threw its captured fist up and then used that same left hand to rapidly punch it back in a now open spot on the monster's right flank! More sparks erupted as it was pushed back again!

While the Smash was sliding away from the blow, the sword was suddenly moved to a horizontal position, the warrior's gauntleted hand pushed what appeared to be a red colored bottle into the slot above the gauge guard on his weapon.

As soon as he did, a red, holographic bunny symbol flashed in front of the gauge and a mysterious male voice sounded from the drill sword itself!

 Ready, go!

The needle in the gauge shot to full and bottomed out the scale, while a red light blinked beside the dial's indicator, as the face of the gauge lit up with a bright blue light of its own too.

The Drill blade then started to rotate so quickly that a visible windstorm was being cast from it, creating an aura of elemental wind damage around the drill blade, the entire weapon resembled a mighty, glowing lance or glaive than a sword!

The spikey creature recovered from its disorienting push backwards and despite clearly having the losing hand, rushed forward yet again, dashing towards the warrior and attempting to strike him one last time!

The windy, rotational aura kept growing in power and as it condensed as much as it would, the voice from the weapon called out again!

 Protect, Break!

There was a red and blue flash and the man in the armor was in the creature's face again and then past it, after having been standing stationary with his blade half a moment ago! Once the creature had closed the distance by 80 percent, the warrior made his move, landing a fierce hit that penetrated the thick defenses of the Smash!

BOOM!

There was a bright flash as all that energy built around the drill sword exploded on the creature's body, electrical bolts and vicious cutting wind blades flying all over it in a elemental display of violent fireworks!

The mysterious swordsman stood in place a meter or two with his sword still halted at the pinnacle of the up-swinging thrust he had delivered! As the masked warrior stood there, the Smash slowly fell face down to the ground from where it had seemed to have been frozen in place moments before. A few stray electrical snakes danced across the beast and the wind had vanished from the area, leaving the place quiet like it had been before this crazy fight had broken out!

"Nice!" The victor proclaimed, holding an empty bottle, which looked very similar to the one that he had inserted into his sword earlier to cast a super move. He pointed it at the defeated smash and something miraculous happened! All of the blue and white armored skin and body mass of the creature was turned into particles of colored lights, then drawn into the bottle the man was pointing its way!

As the blue and white glowing particles were all sucked up, a normal man wearing sweats was left behind in their place. He was passed out but otherwise fine. A lid went onto the bottle as the masked hero looked at his new essence filled bottle with a hint of excitement!

"Alright! Got it!"

The Reporter finally snapped out of her daze and pushed herself back up to a sitting position, as her eyes came into focus, ahead of her where the monster had been stood an armored man instead, looking at a strange blue colored bottle and holding a weird drill looking device in his other hand. As if he could feel her gaze on him, he turned his head and looked at her sideways. She couldn't see his eyes through the lenses, but she could still tell that he was staring at her, matching her gaze and her eyes went huge as she realized what had just happened, and whom must have saved her!

"Kamen Rider?!"
