Chapter 10 - Fear's grip

Emily's words trailed off, her courage faltering. She didn't dare to push further, fearing Julian's wrath. His eyes seemed to bore into her soul, warning her to tread carefully.

She took a step back, her heart racing. "I-I'm sorry, Julian. I didn't mean to pry."

Julian's gaze never wavered, his expression unyielding. "You should be sorry, Emily. You should be very sorry."

Emily's apology was a mere whisper. "I am. I'm sorry."

As Julian turned to leave, Emily felt a wave of relief wash over her. But it was short-lived, as she realized she was now alone, vulnerable. She watched as Julian walked away, her heart still racing with fear.

She didn't move, didn't breathe, until Julian was out of sight. Then, she let out a shaky sigh and tried to calm her racing thoughts. She knew she had to be careful, knew she had to avoid Julian's wrath at all costs.

Just then, a tall, imposing figure emerged from the shadows. Julian's bodyguard, Victor, approached her with a stern expression. "Miss Emily, you're coming with me."

Emily's heart skipped a beat as Victor's massive hand closed around her arm. She knew she had no choice but to comply, knew she had to follow him without resistance.

"Where are we going?" Emily asked, her voice barely audible.

Victor's response was curt. "Mr. Julian's car. He wants to see you."

Emily's mind raced as she was led away. What did Julian want from her now? Had she pushed him too far?

As they approached the car, Emily's heart sank. She knew she was in trouble, knew she had to prepare herself for the worst.

With a sense of trepidation, Emily allowed Victor to lead her to the car, her mind racing with worst-case scenarios. She knew she was at Julian's mercy, and she feared what he might do next.

The car door opened, and Victor gestured for her to get in. Emily hesitated, her heart pounding in her chest. But she knew she had no choice, knew she had to face whatever lay ahead.

With a deep breath, Emily stepped into the car, her fate uncertain.
