Ever since my performance before the prince and the revelation of my name, there has been a noticeable murmur about me. They must have heard something—though the names of captured soldiers are usually not disclosed to the public, Rotang is different; they relish in boasting about their conquests. Considering they've captured Duke Kasper's daughter; celebrations are likely underway. However, I suspect the locals are largely oblivious—such knowledge is probably confined to the soldiers.
Tonight, I was transferred to dorm number 45 (A), where all the female soldiers reside. It resembles a typical hostel building. The prospect of sharing a room with those noisy and talkative girls is giving me a headache. However, I have no other option unless I wish to face reprimand from Edward. The building was so ancient that the Seven Wonders would seem youthful by comparison. Its walls, covered in green algae, were cracked, and the smell was unbearable. Even the washroom floor had cracks. I detest unhygienic conditions—some may call me a clean freak, but I simply cannot tolerate them. The room assigned to me is quite spacious, enough for four people to fit comfortably. However, there's no bed; fortunately, I brought a sleeping bag. It's puzzling why I was given such a large room when I could have shared; I wouldn't have minded. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. It was those four girls, the gossipers. One gasped upon seeing me inside. What a luck I was born with."We are your roommates, Ms. Julian," said a brown-haired girl, her excitement palpable."Oh my, sharing a room with you is such an honor," exclaimed a girl with glasses. I was mistaken; they don't know I'm the reason their soldiers died. They think I'm a resident of Rotang, great."What a dreadful room, just look at these walls, how dare they assign me this room," complained Lisa. For a moment, I thought Lisa had succumbed to food poisoning from the meal she was given, but she's a tough girl."Lisa, do you want to get in trouble again?" interjected a girl, attempting to silence Lisa. This was the same girl who had tried to reason with Lisa in the cafeteria.Observing them adapt to their surroundings, I noted - they were very noisy, very talkative, a veritable gaggle of gossips. It seems I'm regretting my earlier words. I take them back; I want a single room. They introduced themselves; besides Lisa, the girl with brown hair is Stephanie, the one with glasses is Elise, and the last one is Tori. They chatted throughout the night, and I couldn't sleep at all until I silenced them with a glare. I feel as though I have become a warden in the hostel. I hate all of this. It's been quite some time since I've adjusted to this room. Initially, it seemed large enough for four people, but now it feels like a doll-sized room. The girls are like birds, constantly chirping. Lisa is perpetually complaining, while Stephanie is an enthusiast, perhaps overly so. She's always inquiring about my interests, how I know sword fighting, and such. Elise is more reserved, often found reading a book on military tactics; she takes it very seriously. And Tori, she's always following Lisa around. Having observed them for some time, I've learned quite a bit about their backgrounds. For instance, Lisa's father is a prominent figure in the Rotang army, which is why many nobles are familiar with her. This is the reason Edward knew of Lisa's surname and her identity, although he appears indifferent to it. Tori, Lisa's childhood best friend, is well aware of her likes and dislikes. Her father is Lisa's father's subordinate. Stephanie is quite outspoken; she shared everything about her family, pets, friends, and even her disliked third-grade teacher and favorite sweet. She came across as rather childlike. Her father, while not as wealthy as Lisa's, is a general commander of another batch. I haven't heard much from Elise; all I know is that she takes this job seriously. She practices wholeheartedly and is always studying, seemingly oblivious to her surroundings. I've also noticed that the other girls don't include her in their activities, leading me to suspect her father's rank isn't as high as theirs. Yet, she appears to be the most intelligent among them.
