Zenith went back to his teaching.
"So having an animal that you could easily summon to run errands, aid your battles, and keep company would need you to have linked your essence with them."
He continued the rest of the class with information on the size of essence needed and minor rules of summoning, before his class was finally over.
He left the students, carrying the Charis who had a pouting expression as it was taken away from Lilian who was petting it. Lilian had a matching pouting expression.
"Escanor can't come in here." Zenith murmured. "But you have wings, can't you fly to him?"
The creature made a sound of defiance and Zenith sighed. It'd rather latch to him, of course. "If you suck my essence again and grow any bigger, I'd kill you."
The creature mouth opened in shock and Zenith could tell it was intelligent enough to copy humans expressions. That felt slightly humorous to him.
