Chapter Hundred-Three: District 9 I
Illusory Mages were usually the anti-heroes because to defeat a Villain, they had to torture them with their worst nightmares. Torture was a trait of a villain.
While Escanor didn't mind it, a true Mage shouldn't go about making no distinction between them and a Dark Mage yet still call themselves a Mage.
Mages weren't heroes but serving justice through wicked means made them no different than the Villains they were supposed to extinguish.
"I wouldn't be interested in one as sketchy as that." Escanor said. "I'm not like you that don't take things at face value. I take everything thing at face value."
It might be a character flaw but it had taken him so far already. All might not be as it seemed was valid, but he would still judge a book by their cover. There was always a reason they had that cover.
