Megan continued as instructed. Her voice had a slight quiver when she initially started but she gained confidence as she carried on. She was quite clear in the terminology that she used, and with the paperwork of the PPT that Brian had borrowed, he understood almost everything, even though it was just his first day.
"That is my conclusion to this idea." Megan stepped away from the projector. "What do you think about it, Mr. Archer?"
Killian's eyes moved from here to Brandon who straightened up when he noticed it.
"What do you think about it.." He lifted an eyebrow.
"Wallace; Brandon Wallace." Bran added in a breath, almost jumping out of the seat and on the top of the table.
"Mr. Wallace, what do you think about it?"
What do I think about the presentation my boss just gave on my first day? Why would he do that?
"You can say it," Megan whispered, as if Killian would not hear a word, "whatever it is. I can take it."
Well, if she said it. "Your plan entirely depends on the budget. I do understand that as the finance department, we allocate the budget, but with what we all usually do, this would mean keeping more funds to ourselves and distributing less to the marketing department, which is equally important. Given that we need more employees to come, in the next quarter, how do you think it's going to be viable if we would hold a section of funds needed to make a few important decisions work?"
Megan listened, waited for a beat and then nodded. "I see. That is a good point."
"That is," Killian agreed, "and even if I leave the work of human resources to the department, I would not appreciate any butting heads between departmental heads."
"I do understand that which is why I did run the idea briefly with the head of the marketing department. He can make it work with less funds this time if I promise to compensate him in the next. Also, they have a few ideas in the back, ready to be executed, so it's not going to take a lot at the moment. I can confirm with him before getting back to you on the proposal." Megan offered. "If we are able to undertake this project, keep it afloat until it starts generating results, which as most is going to take us an year and six months, so two years approximately, we can make almost double the profit we are making right now which means all the departments are going to be happy."
Bran noted Killian and observed how he was thinking. His cheekbones became more defined, which meant he was slightly sucking his cheek cheeks. How did it make him more attractive—
Wait, what? Bran looked away from him. Attractive? Did I just call another man attractive?
"Run the idea with Brown and then get it through." Killian concluded and stood up. "We are done for the day."
Bran stood up with him but his body stiffened subconsciously as Killian passed behind his back to go towards the door.
It was only once he knew that super boss was out of the room, did Brian let out a sign of relief and slump in the chair he was previously occupying.
"I did not consider your previous jobs to make you this good. That was a good question." Megan somewhat complimented him and started collecting everything. Bran silently passed her the papers he had taken from her file.
"Thank you." Bran thanked her. " I do have a good experience. I have one with a British company and another one out of the country. You can trust me when I say I'm good at what I do."
Megan hummed and stacked everything against the table twice, leveling it. "Since it's your first day, I'm not going to trust your words just yet. But let's see if you're right or not."
Bran smiled in return as she left the room and swirled his chair to the one Killian had occupied.
Fuck, he winced. What have I done?
