It was not like he was gonna say, Brandon was the least interested to carry out any conversation. So he just stuck to something that was going to take out talking. He ate.
He was the first one to grab the sandwich, the first one to wrap it, and the first one to take a bite.
Goddamn, he closed his eyes. This sandwich is good. How did I not come here sooner?
The two people with him on the table had started to eat as well. Momentarily, the session was excused and no one made an effort to fill it up, especially Megan.
"Its nice," Megan complimented. "I can't believe I missed this place so long."
Bran rolled his eyes. He had spoken too soon.
"Isn't it, Brandon?"
Damn it, you really have to involve me in this? Nonetheless, out of respect, he answered, "yes, it's very good. I think I might come here on a daily basis."
"Does your employment allow you to be that free to come here on a daily basis?"
Brand felt his ears warm up at the words of his boss. "No, I am burdened with work, in fact, I'm buried for that, but that does not mean that I do not take the lunch break that I am entitled to."
Killian nodded in thought. "Good. You have to take what you want."
Now, his cheeks heated up as well. Why did it seem more than what he said?
Bran gulped down whatever he was chewing with a huge sip of his soda. He turned to his boss. "You don't look like a person who would come here for lunch. What made you stop by?"
Killin raised an eyebrow. "I cannot stop for a sandwich?"
"Not when you have a thousand people to do it for you." He bantered back.
Megan whispered, "Bran—"
"You are quite right, Brandon. And since I do have a thousand people in my company, more than that, in fact, why aren't you the one to grab me a sandwich whenever I need from now on?"
It took him a few moments to understand what had happened, and the moment Brandon slowly kept his sandwich down. "What?"
That was not what I meant.
"Yes," Killian leaned forward, Brandon instinctively pulled back. " from now on whatever I need, especially a sandwich, you will be the one to go and get it."
Brandon had a restraint, barely there, restrained that he kept to himself, so his words did not come out more like a snap, "I work in finance. I work under a managerial post, that is quite high up in case you didn't know. I'm not going to get you something, certainly not a sandwich. The only thing I get is a financial report through my boss."
"He will do it." Megan quickly buttoned in, before Killian could get a word in. " I will make sure he does."
Brandon whipped his head towards her. "Wha—"
"I said," she whispered furiously, "what I said."
That was quite a serious turn of events. Brandon sat back, staring at his immediate superior. Turns out she did have a backbone, but only when it was related to protecting her work or as in this case, her boss.
