Chapter 4 - The reading of the will- II

".. As for construction company, I have decided to not name an heir to the business immediately—"

"What?!" Victoria stood up. "What do you mean immediately? Who is going to handle the responsibility of the company if not the one person who is going to chair it?"

Philip stared at her, unimpressed by her interruption. "If I am allowed to complete the paragraph, you might have your answer."

Victoria sent glare in his direction, as if it was all his fault but Brandon ignored her. He wanted to know.

"All of my grandchildren will have the opportunity to be the head of the company only if they fulfill the following conditions as they are;

-They will have to work in a completely different firm, not owned by anyone in the family, for the next three years.

- Under No circumstances can any grandchild leave the company or be fired. The moment the stated happens, they will no longer be considered to be running for the position of the CEO.

-The firm will be decided to be in a different continent.

-All the participating grandchildren will have a minimum amount of money given to them to start their life in a different country. After which, they survive on the salary. They are given by the company and nothing else. If found receiving money from anyone else, including payment from the parents, the participant will no longer be participating.

Holy shit, Brandon felt himself sitting straight. This was what his grandfather had chosen?

From the corner of his eyes, he looked at his aunts. Annabel was holding her son's hand and his aunt Victoria was seething.

"No," Victoria whispered, "these are the grandchildren of my father. You mean to tell me that they are going to have to fight for the position instead of inheriting it?"

"Indeed, I am."

"That simply cannot happen! It would have to go to one!" Annabel shrieked, her panic coming into light. "What kind of conditions are these? Inhumane."

Philip had stopped listening, especially when his aunt Annabel started to speak up. He flipped through another page and announced, "that was the way of choosing who would chair the company. The other one is to simply give it to the person who is most capable of handling it."

James smirked. "I am—"

"That would be Brandon." Philip closed the file. "He has completed his masters in bachelors as well, not to mention from Cambridge. He has interned in the company and in a foreign one. With his bachelors and Masters in business and finance, it makes him the most suitable person to be the CEO of Wallace constructions."

Bran gulped and looked down on his hands, feeling the glare of everyone in the room.

"I do not agree with it." Victoria stood up again. "There has to be another way. He cannot sit on the chair of the CEO. My children are not going to work for another company like an employee. They are meant to be leaders. This cannot happen."

"This is the only way. This was I believe the most important part of the will that has to be announced. None of these conditions can be changed. As for the houses, this manor will belong to Brandon. The house in Hamptons, America will belong to Annabel and the house in Scotland, Glasgow, will belong to Miss Victoria. As for the finances, you will all receive a cheque that is in the letter, which also contains a handwritten note by late MR. Wallace."

"However, remember that whatever you decide on, if it is the first condition for inheritance, this amount cannot be used." He stood up, "I give you a week to decide what needs to be done. We will begin the preparations then."

And then walked out, leaving him with three vultures waiting to get their beaks into his throat.
