Chapter 5 - Understanding

Waking up from her long sleep, Jesse had a glint of clarity in her eyes and a blissful smile as she absorbed the separate thought streams she created before going to sleep.

Time, Space, Matter, Anti-Matter, Life, Death, and frequency.

It was all so clear to her now. No longer does her mind work as her previous self, but now an expanded transcendent being.

So to speak.

(1st)

It's all so clear to me now. With a simple thought, I could take control of time it self. Freezing it in a moment, fast forwarding it, and even rewinding it. It's all so, simple now. Which is truly mind boggling. Something so abstract as time is now as easily manipulated as moving sand beneath my feet.

Space is no different. I already had some understanding of it as I'm able to teleport throughout the Oldest House with ease. But now I can move through the outside world, transitioning from place to place with a simple step. One moment I could be in a park in Manhattan, take one step, and then be in Los Angeles to give an example. Or even on the moon to add more distance.

Matter and Anti-Matter. Matter, that which makes up all known reality, and Anti-Matter, it's antithesis, the null left behind after the creation of the universe. When these to thing come into contact with one another, an immense amount of energy is released. It could power a civilization, allow faster than light travel. Or, it could be used as a weapon. Erasing life in a glorious explosion reminiscent of the Big Bang.

Life and Death were tricky to grasp. Took longer than the rest to understand it as life is so complicated. So many permutations for organics to take that would develop their own unique life. Truly fascinating and something I look forward to experimenting with.

Death on the other hand was interesting, to say the least. The aspect of a soul and its eternal rest was difficult to comprehend as besides myself, I didn't have anything else to compare since no life has bloomed in the universe just yet. And my soul is so different compared to what one would consider normal that it's impossible to make a conclusion based on it alone.

Frequency on th other hand was the simplest to understand as it was apart of me intrinsically. Over the years that my thought streams were running simulations, this one had the most detailed development. As of now, with my part in creating the multiverse, I can now gaze through the barriers that separate the universes. Peering into the other planes of existence as simple as gazing upon a relaxing sunset.

After fully comprehending the collective knowledge of the few thousand years, I got up and stretched. Hearing the popping of joints and feeling my muscles move in protest as not moving for a few thousand years really brings out the atrophy in one's body.

Getting up I put on some casual clothes. The same outfit from my time before I went to sleep. A simple long sleeve button down shirt, tight blue jeans, and converse shoes. Leaving the shirt untucked but rolling the sleeves to my elbows.

Feeling my hair, I frown at the length, and with a thought it shortened to about my shoulder blades and then moved itself into a messy top bun.

Pulling some of the black sand my way I transform it into a body length mirror.

"Not bad." I tell myself and with a wave it it falls back into sand on the ground.

With one more thought, I disappear from my gazebo and appear in the Lobby of the Oldest House.

***

Staring at the double glass doors that lead outside, I take a moment. This will be my first time out in the world since coming here. I am a little nervous but in an exciting kinda way.

I look over my shoulder and give the place a cursory glance, "I'll be back in a bit." I say and then walk forward. Pushing open the doors and stepping out into the vastness of space.

***

I half expected the air to be sucked out when I opened the doors but I guess my fear was assuaged.

As I float out in space, I look back and realize that the only thing telling of the fact that the Oldest House even exists is that the front doors are visible at this moment.

But a second later they shut and dissipate from view, as if never being there in the first place. I laugh at that for some reason. It's like it's playing hide and seek. Cute.

I face forward and this time, with a thought, I burst forth with speed. Flying through outer space with glee and enjoying the thrill of doing something I've always dreamed of.

As my speed increases, everything turns into a blur. Similar to Star Treks FTL. Even though I'm flying so fast I still know what's around me. Everything from the new born stars and planets to the rogue planets wandering space and the occasional black hole.

I can't tell you how far I went until I came to a complete stop. My senses telling me I crossed countless galaxies in the hour I took to travel. That was going easy with my speed as well.

As I floated there, an idea came to me, why not test out my understanding of Life and try and create something.

***

After going over everything I wanted to do, I located a Stellar Nursery and from the Nursery I created two stars.

One a vibrant blue and the other a deep purple.

After forming them, I brought them to my location in a blink. Crossing hundreds if not thousands of light years in an instant.

I felt the intense heat radiating off of them and if I wasn't protecting myself from it I would of fired like a piece of chicken in oil.

I synchronise their orbits of one another and create a binary star system. I wait for their gravitational fields to harmonize and they fall into an equilibrium and they slowly begin to revolve around one another.

Once that is done, I follow through with my new knowledge of matter and start to form planets and gas giants, holding them back as I let one after the other fall into orbit around the new binary star system.

Once they all held a stable orbit, I accelerated time around the system and let nature take its course. Whichever planet sprouts the assemblance of life will be the one I work on.

***

Time moved rapidly for this system and eventually I start to sense the budding beginning of life on the fourth planet from the suns.

Stopping the time acceleration, I teleport over and examine what's happening.

There below me, I look over Planet 4 and its two orbiting moons and see massive oceans on its surface. Waves raising and falling, crashing on the shores. Massive mountains and sprawling lakes with crystal clear water. It was breathtaking although a bit barren at the moment.

I go down to its surface and appear above the budding plant life. A form of aquatic algae floating in one of the freshwater lakes near the equator.

After examining it I've come to discover that it's quite similar to Earth's early on plant life.

Fascinating.

I reach my hand down and pull some up and look deeper within it. Studying its genetic makeup. What active genes it has and doesn't have.

***

After a month of studying the algae and playing with its genetics. I take the finished product and plant it in the ground near the lake. Ensuring it has a good water source and loads of sunlight.

Having its photosynthesis and nutrient processes enhanced to perfection, this genetically modified strain of algae will rapidly grow and spread. After covering a great portion of the planet, it will begin going through rapid mutation and sprout numerous new species of plant life.

From grasses to ferns, countless herb plants, and fruit trees among other things. Ensuring the species I'll attempt to create here will not only survive but thrive.

***

More time passed, I watched the spread of greenery across Planet 4 in a mesmerizing fashion. It was like clicking the fast forward button on your video game and watch all your preset plans go to be completed.

Once I was satisfied that sapient life could live safely, I bit my finger and drew blood. Stopping it from turning to rust and disappearing, I examined it down to the genetic level, isolating the human half of my genome and delving deeper into what made my past species human.

I tear it down to the building blocks of life and work on experimenting with different combinations of active and deactive genes.

Time passed slowly for me but quickly for my surroundings as I was engrossed in my experiments on what can't even be call the human genome at this point anymore with all the recombinations I was putting it through.

Great strength and stamina, highly intelligent and intuitive, creative and motivated, with a bit of psionics thrown in there.

It's amazing the things you can do with genetics.

After doing that to make sure they have some great advantages I added some single cellular organisms into the mix that are native to the planet. Effectively turning on a blender and seeing what comes out after making sure all the beneficial bits stay intact.

Done with that I start multiplying the organic material and once it reached its critical mass I dispersed it in the upper atmosphere and sended the whole of Planet 4 with its dominant species.

I made sure to allow massive genetic mutations in some areas to allow other life to grow as well, animal and the like.

Satisfied with my work I get read to leave but not before creating something unique for my little pet project. A Beacon. One from a game from my past life. A little game called Mass Effect.

I ensure that the design and functionality of the Beacon is all in order and place it in a valley out of the way. Making sure they have to develop enough and and spread out to even find it. Not to mention having to develop their psionic abilities as well to even communicate with it to access all the information stored within.

I leave the planet and place one more on the smaller of the two moons before I take my leave. Satisfied with my experiments in the manipulation of energies, biology, and matter as a whole.

I know it's shorter than the others but it's where I felt like it needed to end.

I wonder if anyone can guess what species Jesse ended up creating. Let me know in the comments!
