Gladius's cold, booming voice sent involuntary shivers wracking through Zephyr's broken body. The threat in those words was palpable, promising a fate worse than death to any who dared cross him.
Gladius continued, his voice dripping with contempt, "The only reason you're not suffering more is because I want to be closer to Lyra. And, your family will be of use to us. Remember in the future to mind your manners, or, well, do I need to explain what will happen?"
With those final ominous words hanging in the air, Gladius unceremoniously flung Zephyr away like a discarded rag doll.
