Iris watched on emotionlessly, as Manager Torres and the Human Resource Manager were paraded through the mall, heading towards the parking lot in handcuffs. Shoppers had their mobile phones at the ready, snapping various shots in different embarrassing positions.
To prevent the police officers from bearing the brunt of the public for taking them through the busy mall when they could use the closest lift to the conference room, there was a fault before Iris even got there.
Earlier in the day, the maintenance team noticed that some system errors caused the lifts in a particular section to malfunction. Consequently, they had to be shut down for maintenance. Even Iris and her team took a longer route because of this challenge.
They also informed the customers about the issue, ensuring that no one would accuse them of misusing their power to disgrace the accused individuals.
