Luke leaned forward, peering into the open puzzle box as though it might hold the universe's secrets. After all the effort—and the tension—it had taken to unlock the thing, his expectations were… well, higher.
Inside, scrawled in flowing, archaic script that Luke recognised as English, were simple words:
"Congratulations for unlocking this box. You had fun?"
That was it. No hidden treasures, no magical relics, no ominous prophecies. It's just a pat on the back in the form of some overly formal wording. He stared at it, incredulous.
"Seriously?" he muttered under his breath. He fought the urge to snort. This was either the lamest prize he'd ever received or a very clever way to let someone know they weren't as clever as they thought.
