The air around the cathedral was heavy with an almost sacred stillness that came from centuries of reverence and whispered prayers. Its towering spires pierced the night sky, bathed in the moon's faint glow, and the grand stained-glass windows cast a kaleidoscope of muted colours onto the cobblestone streets. Yet, as the lone figure approached, cloaked in the guise of a shadow, the atmosphere seemed to curdle as if sensing the malice in his heart.

The assassin stalked forward with deliberate steps, his every movement laced with an almost theatrical disdain. His lip curled as he glanced at the ornate carvings of Noirist saints that adorned the cathedral's outer walls. He spat at the ground in defiance, a contemptuous sneer twisting his features. The faint sound of a hymn emanated from within, the choir's voices mingling with the distant chime of a bell. The melody grated on him, each note a dagger to his ears.
