Luke wiped his brow as he finished the last task at the stable for the day, making sure the animals were comfortably settled for the night. Sigmund gave him a satisfied nod, the kind of look that conveyed appreciation for a job well done without needing many words.
"Here's today's pay, lad," Sigmund said, handing over a small pouch with coins. It wasn't much, just enough for the work done, but Luke was grateful nonetheless. Every bit mattered when it came to saving for their travel expenses.
With a quick thanks, Luke left the stable, stepping out into the early evening. The sun was beginning its descent, the sky painted in muted shades of orange and purple. Luke had some time on his hands, a few hours before he needed to head back to Mirela's house. And there was one place that had been on his mind all day—the cemetery.
