As the carriage continued to rumble down the dirt path, Rhys brought up a topic Luke had anticipated might surface at some point. With a casual glance over his shoulder toward Ilyrana, who was still fast asleep in the shaded interior of the carriage, Rhys turned back to Luke, raising an eyebrow.
"So, what's the deal between you and the woman? I mean, at first glance, I thought you two were... siblings."
Luke blinked in surprise, almost laughing at the unexpected assumption.
"Siblings?" he echoed, the idea catching him completely off guard. It wasn't the first time someone had thought they were together, but siblings? That was new.
Rhys chuckled, nodding earnestly.
"Yeah, I mean, both of your hair colours. It's not something you see every day, especially not around here. I've only ever seen black and dark brown hair in my life. You two have the same kind of… unique look, so I figured you were related."
