The carriage rattled furiously down the cobbled streets of Laiken, the pounding hooves of the tigers echoing like thunder through the narrow alleys. Luke could feel the urgency in Karrigan's movements as he guided the carriage with a mixture of desperation and determination. They were both aware that their only chance of escape was to make it to the city gates before the guards could organize a full blockade.
The wolves, ridden by the pursuing guards, were hot on their heels. Luke could see them in the distance, moving with predatory grace, closing the gap with terrifying speed. The narrow streets of Laiken blurred past, the city's stone walls a cage that seemed to close tighter with every turn.
"Karrigan, we need to get out of here!" Luke shouted, his voice strained as he clung to the side of the carriage.
