Luke was acutely aware of everything. The warmth of the water surrounding him, the faint scent of herbs wafting from the bath, the soft glow of the ambient lights reflecting off the surface—and, most of all, the presence of Ilyrana beside him.
She was close. Too close.
His heart pounded in his chest as he kept his gaze firmly locked on the intricately carved stone wall ahead. It was a beautiful design, truly, but right now, it served as his lifeline. A single flicker of curiosity could shatter whatever fragile self-control he had left.
Luke shifted slightly, his hands still covering himself beneath the water. Not that it helped much. The thought of her being naked just a few feet away from him made his skin tingle with an intensity he wasn't ready to face.
"Is something wrong?" Ilyrana's voice broke through his thoughts, soft and calm, but tinged with that unfamiliar playfulness he wasn't used to.
