Kael Darkfire, the Demon King, sat on his throne, his piercing purple eyes gazing into the darkness of his castle. The flickering torches cast eerie shadows on the walls as his mind drifted back to the past.
Twenty years had passed since that fateful night when his life was forever changed. The night his parents were brutally slain by the Demon King, the very being he now embodied. The night that ignited a fire within him, a flame that fueled his unrelenting pursuit of power.
'I've accomplished everything, now what?' Kael thought, as he used his hand to scruffel his white hair.
Years ago, his parents were killed by the Demon King right in front of him, and he couldn't do a single thing about it, after all, as a young Demon, he was weak, and couldn't possibly dream of fighting the Demon King.
Though, he didn't let that stop him. Determined, and driven by revenge, he strived to become stronger, and like that, he trained non-stop, and practiced the techniques his parents left for him.
Yes, it took time, but at the end, after much struggle, Kael finally felt confident in his strength. His sole purpose was to surpass the one who had taken everything from him – the previous Demon King.
The years passed, and Kael's power grew. He faced countless battles, overcame unimaginable challenges, and eliminated any who dared stand in his way. And finally, the day arrived when he confronted the one he had sought for so long.
The battle was fierce, the outcome uncertain, but in the end, Kael emerged victorious. He had achieved his revenge, claimed the throne, and become the Demon King.
But as he sat on his throne, surrounded by the shadows of his castle, Kael realized that his victory had not brought him the satisfaction he had craved.
The fire that had driven him for so long had dwindled, leaving behind a hollow sense of accomplishment. He felt lost. He had accomplished everything, now what?
"Hmm.... I'm tired," Kael muttered, as he rested his jaw on his palm.
After everything, there was nothing else to do, to the point that he even began questioning himself.
'All those fighting, and training, what were they for?'
As Kael was slowly getting lost in his thoughts, he suddenly heard footsteps, and he looked up, already knowing who it was.
"Your Majesty?" Xaren's soft voice broke the silence, echoing through the throne room, as he walked in.
Kael's gaze shifted, his eyes focusing on his trusted subordinate.
"Xaren, come forward," Kael said, as he sighed.
Xaren wasn't actually surprised, after all, he couldn't count the number of times he had seen the King like this.
Xaren's long black hair fluttered as he walked towards Kael. In an instant, he was already standing in front of the Demon King, and he bowed down, with his black eyes fixated on the red carpet on the floor.
"You sent for me, my King," Xaren said.
"Yes, Xaren, any new report?" Kael asked.
"No, my King. The only thing is that, Valtira went on a rampage again, almost eliminating all the Demon Beasts, but I managed to stop her beforehand," Xaren said.
"Hmm..... good," Kael said.
"Yes, my King," Xaren said, with his head still lowered.
Since there was nothing else again, Kael gave his command.
"You can leave now, I'll send for you if there's anything else," Kael said.
"I understand, my King," Xaren said, as he raised his head. Immediately, he exited the throne room, leaving it quiet again.
Kael was now the only one in the empty throne room, left with his thoughts once more.
'It won't hurt to go out a bit,' He thought.
The Demon King stood up from his throne, and adjusted his black cloak, before walking.
Kael's footsteps echoed through the silent throne room as he walked towards the door that led to the balcony. He reached out a hand, grasping the cold metal handle, and pulled the door open with a soft creak.
A warm breeze wafted in, carrying the sweet scent of the night.
Without hesitation, Kael stepped forward, his eyes adjusting to the dim light as he made his way onto the balcony. The cool night air enveloped him, welcoming him from the stifling atmosphere of the castle.
With steady steps, he walked to the edge of the balcony, his gaze drawn to his kingdom below.
The sky was very dark, but that didn't bother the demons who were carrying out their usual activities.
As usual, the atmosphere was gloomy, and there wasn't much noise, even with the amount of demons in the kingdom.
'Ahh, what can I do? Will I stay like this forever?' Kael questioned himself.
With a sigh, Kael decided to take a stroll, and at least, check out the happenings in his kingdom.
Taking the stairs would be a hassle, so the next option would be jumping down.
In the blink of an eye, Kael was already standing on the balustrade that had ancient markings on it.
In the next second....
*WHOOSH*
He instantly jumped down with an unfazed expression.
Kael's white hair, and his cloak fluttered due to the wind. Though, he couldn't deny the fact that this was something he usually enjoyed doing... at least, in his uneventful life.
'Wish I could be as free as the wind,' Kael thought, as he closed his eyes, trying to enjoy the feeling of the wind brushing against his face.
Finally....
Kael's legs touched the ground, and he opened his eyes. He was now directly in front of his castle, and he began walking forward, towards the gate that was the exit of the castle.
'There's really no need to do this. Moreover, Xaren has already told me that everything is fine,' Kael thought.
But even with this thought, Kael still decided to go out.
He placed his hand on the gate, and pushed it open. Instantly, he walked out, towards the main city of his kingdom.
He could already see some of the other demons at the distance, but he was yet to reach them.
Suddenly.....
Kael felt something strange, and he raised his brow in curiosity.
'Hm.... something is here... no... something that isn't suppose to be here.'
Kael suddenly turned his head to the right, where the forest was present.
Without warning, he suddenly disappeared, and not even a second later, he appeared in the middle of the forest.
His eyes darted to the ground, and that was when he saw it.....the thing that wasn't suppose to be here.
"What the hell is this?"
