Chereads / Forced To Marry The Crippled Lycan / Chapter 11 - Another Monster

Chapter 11 - Another Monster

Naiari felt weak to her knees and she wanted to just collapse on the forest floor, it was only her will power that kept her on her feet.

She berated herself in her mind for trying to escape so early, she should have waited until she knew more about this strange place before carefully plotting her escape. Now her impulsiveness was going to be the death of her, she would be torn into shreds and no one would ever even know or care.

She knew that she could not outrun the wolf and she had no weapons, what kind of weapons would one use to fight an overgrown dog?

As she eyed the wolf warily as it eyed her back and seemed to study her and she had a thought that it had very intelligent eyes, like it knew what she was thinking but she shrugged it off. No doubt the wolf was probably an intelligent animal but not that intelligent.

The wolf continued to stare at her as if waiting for her next move while Naiari kept watch on it and wondered how she was going to get out of this mess? She had escaped that frightful monster only to be accosted by another monster.

But at least this monster did not look as scary or ugly as the other one. Infact, she was forced to admit that this monster was kind of beautiful, shards of light penetrated the forest ceiling and landed on his shiny black fur and its gold eyes shone. Maybe if it was smaller it could be someone's pet.

'How are you thinking of how beautiful a monster is as if it is going to make a difference when it eats you?' She berated herself.

She glanced around, looking for a way to escape and when she started to walk backwards, the wolf remained still, seeming to be amused by her obviously futile attempts to escape.

Naiari frowned then watched as the wolf's counternance went from relaxed to suddenly alert and she felt an apprehension and closed her eyes when she saw the wolf crouch as if it was about to lunge at her. She was tired from running and no longer had the will power to fight so she prepared for her painful death.

She heard it growl and she stiffened, prepared for whatever was coming while she mourned her empty and sad life. However, she did not feel the pain and instead heard snapping and snarling coming from behind her.

She opened her eyes and turned around and gasped to see the wolf fighting that ugly creature. On a closer look she realized that this one seemed to be bigger than the first one.

The creature swiped at the wolf which jumped and grabbed a hold of the creature's neck with its powerful teeth and swung it away.

Without needing to see anymore Naiari started to run away from the ghastly scene of the battle and as she struggled up the hill, she heard snarls and howls behind her.

Unable to resist the urge, she turned her head and watched in horror as the wolf tore the head off the other creature and black liquid spurted out of its neck. She felt faint and the world seemed to tilt from under her feet and the next thing she knew she was falling backwards.

The strain on her body was too much and it could no longer take it so it decided to take a break without her permission. As her eyes closed and her sight dimmed, she saw the figure of a man standing in front of her but his face was blocked by the light and then everything went black.

Kael watched as the small figure continued to run and he knew that there was only one person who was foolish enough to run away from the city during sorgord attacks.

'Let her go then.' He thought with a frown.

If she was determined to go then he might as well let her. Then he thought about how it would look to the council if the bride he had just gotten disappeared and he rolled his eyes and was about to mind link Noughera when he caught sight of a lone sorgord going in her direction.

"Damn!" He cussed under his breath, there was no time.

Now as he stared down at her unconscious form, he was surprised at how far she had gotten and the fact that she had managed to survive so far. The human was actually very nimble and determined to escape. Who knew that a dainty princess like her could be this resilient.

With a sigh he picked her up and when she moaned softly he hoped that she would not wake up before they got back or he would be forced to choke her out. It would be very unchivalrous but he did not care as he was not in the mood to explain anything to her.

He carried and climbed through her window where he carefully laid her in the bed and stared at her for a moment, wondering why he was drawn to her. None of her features appealed to him and the attraction felt deep like her soul was calling to his.

He shook his head and laughed at himself, that was romantic rubbish and he was the last person who would have such fanciful thoughts in his head.
