Life in a new environment.
Moving to a new location definitely wasn't easy. Don't judge me, I was born with a silver spoon. I rented a two bedroom apartment, it was small but cozy. I was used to a big mansion, luxurious lifestyle, cars and everything one could ever ask for.
When mom was alive it was a home, but ever since Helen and kaida moved in it was more of a house than a home. This is my house and I have to make it a home for my baby.
I had enough money to buy a house, car and even start my business with a lot to spare. The first business strategy is knowing your audience then knowing your competition.
If I live in a rented house nobody would perceive me as someone who can afford expensive stuff. I went grocery shopping and gosh it's the hardest thing I have ever done.
While it was hard, it was fun as well. I took my sweet time to review every detail about my new home, I started reading pregnancy magazines. I looked into the the big companies in town and what they had to offer.
I even bought some of their products, to have the feel myself. I was still in my first trimester, I loved the feeling of pregnancy and the thought of bringing a new life to this world, the mood swings, the cravings, morning sickness and nausea was all overwhelming and a new experience.
In my first month of moving to turkey, I basically took no action. I did the little things like spending a lot of time in the market, parks and other public places. I wanted to know what is it the people of this locality want and need. I wanted to know what they loved about the products they have and what their complains are.
It was a market strategy i learned from an intern at Thayers. It was a valuable strategy. My next step was applying for job in Novas, the best company in the country. The competition rate was high but I really hoped I was employed.
And to my advantage I was employed, after all my resume was great, no bragging. I landed a job in the HR department which was good for me. When you plan on starting your own business, you not only need to know your major competition and your target audience, you also need to know who will work for you, their needs, expectations and also complaints.
God, today was my first day at work, I was both anxious and excited. Anxious because it's my first time working under someone, excited because it was the second step to my revenge. I dressed up in a suit, it was the dress code for employees, tied my hair up to a bun and did a simple makeup. I gathered my confidence and took a deep breath as I stepped into the company's building.
I was assigned my personal workspace. I was nervous definitely, but I was confident I could do it. During lunch break a nice and handsome gentle man came up to me.
" You are new right, welcome to novas, am Steve, and you" steve said said with a welcoming smile and an extended hand.
" Ruby, Ruby flyn, nice to meet you". I replied shaking his hand.
" Wanna grab lunch together, we can go to the cafeteria downstairs" Steve offered.
" Sure" I replied. Steve led me downstairs and we sat on a table in the cafeteria with other employees. I ordered for bacon and a smoothie, while Steve ordered coke and sandwich.
We were just enjoying our lunch amidst small talks, when a red haired girl came up to our table. " Hey, who are you, and why are you having lunch with Steve" she asked rudely.
" Mandy this is not how to behave with new comers and definitely not a co-worker, that's so rude. And what if she is having lunch with me, is it forbidden" Steve replied her back.
" Steve, I wasn't really talking to you, am talking to her. I know girls like her, eager to entrap handsome and nice guys and I won't let her take advantage of you, if she really is a new employee why didn't she come to us, her co- female workers, did she only see you" Mandy replied.
"Mind your tongue Ms, don't think am someone you can trample upon, if you dare try to tear me down, I promise you wouldn't like how it will end for you" I replied her.
" Oh, so missy got a mouth, I thought you would hide behind others and make others dance to your tune " she said with a scoff.
"Am not a coward, I don't bully but I don't tolerate others bullying me, so now if you would excuse me we were having lunch and a discussion over here, if you can be peaceful, you can join, else scram" I told her with a firm tone.
" Just stay away from Steven if you want peace, if not I would make your life a living hell, Steven is mine only mine". Mandy said in a warning tone, but I was the least intimidated by her.
"Am not a property to be owned, and even if I am I don't wanna be with a psycho like you, so as ruby said, excuse us" Steven said and turned his attention back to his food.
