As I left the care home, after bidding a sleepy Elaine goodbye and goodnight and promising to come visit soon, I was boiling with anger. I was so angry that I could burn down an entire building.

How could Harry have such a conversation with a child? Was that how he coerced Amelia to write the testimony to set me free? What was he thinking, talking about such dangerous things to someone so innocent? What was his real intent? What will he achieve by this?

The more I thought about it, the more my fury grew, making it nearly impossible to focus on the road as I drove.

I gripped the steering wheel tightly, my knuckles turning white as I tried to suppress the annoyance brewing inside me. Harry had always been mysterious, but this? This was something else entirely. If he had crossed a line, I was going to find out, and heaven help him when I do.

As I sped down the highway, my phone buzzed, startling me. I glanced at the screen – it was Felicia – my mother.
