Chapter 29 - 29. Incoming Danger 2

Eastwood City, Ling Clan private room.

"Mr. Ling, it's been four years since you promised us. Do you want to go against the promise you made?"

Inside the room, there were five people. Among them, three looked normal, but the other two were a little different. One person had a tail, and the other had a single small horn in the center of his head.

In fact, these two were real humans before undergoing some kind of inhuman experiment. They became like this.

As for the three humans, they are the patriarchs of the Ling, Du, and Wu clans. The promise the inhuman person is talking about has something to do with the monster tide four years ago in Eastwood City.

Four years ago, monsters suddenly attacked the city, directed by these inhuman people. In order to survive, the patriarchs of Ling, Du, and Wu all made a promise to help them acquire a city where they could create inhuman beings like themselves.

Initially, these inhumans didn't agree and fought for quite a while. However, seeing that these patriarchs were tough nuts to crack, they decided to work with them.

Since then, the Ling, Du, and Wu clans have done everything in their power to place their spies in powerful positions in Spring City.

Some might wonder why they didn't inform the people of the empire. But doing so would only result in their doom because of the distance between Eastwood City and the capital city.

As for waiting this long, the Ling Clan patriarch wanted to involve the Yu family in their plan. So, he proposed a marriage between his daughter, Ling Ling, and the previously famous but incompetent young master Yu Zhou.

But that didn't progress as planned either. Due to the friendship between the Ling Clan patriarch and Yu Ming, he has been stalling for more than two years. Now, he has no choice but to initiate the attack on Spring City.

"Don't worry, just a few more days and you will get your city," Ling Nuo said, not stopping but asking a question after.

"But I don't think I understand. Even if you take down the city, won't you lose it again once the empire finds out?"

The two inhumans started laughing loudly. "Hahahahahah..... Ling Clan patriarch, you don't have to worry about us. Just do what you promised. Because once you fail to deliver your promise, Eastwood City will fall. And trust me, I am not lying this time."

Saying that, both of them put on black cloaks and left the Ling Clan, leaving the three clan leaders bewildered.

They looked at each other and sighed softly.

"I don't know if what we are doing will save our city. The way he spoke, it seems like they have a powerful backer," Wu Deng said sadly.

On the other hand, Du Clan patriarch remained stoic as always and said, "We don't have any other choice. We can only gamble and pray that they won't go back on their word."

Ling Nuo closed his eyes and muttered to himself, "I am sorry, Ming. I am helpless in this matter. To protect my loved ones, I will have to sacrifice you."

As the frost of winter slowly retreated from the northern outskirts of Spring City, a bustling anticipation filled the air. The residents of the city were preparing for their most cherished event of the year—the Spring Festival. It was a celebration that marked the awakening of life and the vibrant colors that adorned their world once more.

In the heart of the northern forest, where the magic of perpetual spring reigned, preparations were in full swing. The trees stood tall with their fresh green leaves shimmering in the sunlight, and the flowers bloomed in an array of hues, painting the landscape like a canvas of joy. Birds chirped melodiously, adding a natural symphony to the atmosphere.

In the center of the forest clearing, a grand stage was being erected, adorned with flowers and ribbons of every color imaginable. The stage would host performances of music and dance, showcasing the talents of the city's artists and entertainers. Nearby, craftsmen were busy creating intricate decorations made from petals and vines, weaving together nature's bounty into stunning displays.

Further into the forest, makeshift stalls were being set up, offering delicacies made from freshly harvested spring vegetables and fruits. The aroma of baked goods and sweet treats filled the air, tempting passersby with their irresistible scents.

Children darted among the trees, their laughter echoing through the forest as they gathered flowers for wreaths and garlands. Families gathered in groups, dressed in their finest spring attire, exchanging greetings and sharing stories of past festivals.

As the sun began its descent towards the horizon, torches and lanterns were lit, casting a warm glow over the festivities. The evening sky transformed into a canvas of oranges, pinks, and purples, reflecting the jubilant spirit of the occasion.

At the edge of the forest, overlooking the city, stood a monument—an ancient oak tree that had witnessed countless generations celebrate the magic of spring. Its branches swayed gently in the breeze, as if joining in the joyous dance of the festival below.

Spring City, named after the forest where spring reigned eternal, celebrated the Spring Festival not just as a tradition but as a testament to the enduring beauty of nature and the unity of its people. As night fell and the stars emerged one by one, the forest echoed with laughter and music, celebrating the arrival of another glorious spring.

Among the people stood Universe with Nana, enjoying the rare moment because until last year his parents didn't allow him to come here. And not only him but everyone in the city does that because no matter how festive the situation is, it's a forest where beasts roam freely.
