Jiang Wei turned his head calmly, looked at Zhi Ying who was holding brown sugar ginger tea, and waited for her to continue talking.
Zhi Ying raised the cup in her hand and began explaining, "Brown sugar is primarily sucrose, whereas glucose is a monosaccharide. I should drink glucose water for better absorption."
Next, she went on to explain to Jiang Wei everything from the basic ingredients of sugar to its complex structure, covering topics from high school chemistry to more advanced college-level concepts. She finally concluded with a shrug, "Actually, I don't know much about nutrition, and my knowledge of the field is quite limited."
Jiang Wei stared at her in silence for a while, and then finally said what had been on his mind for a while, something he had wanted to say without hesitation, "Did you become stupid from studying?"
"What?" Zhi Ying exclaimed in confusion at his words, looking at Jiang Wei inexplicably, and felt very aggrieved in her heart. 'I don't know what I did wrong to let my good classmate Jiang Wei say such a thing.'
"Forget it," Jiang Wei muttered, his eyes briefly crossing her blank face before he bade her farewell in a low voice. "I'll go first if there is nothing else."
"Oh." Zhi Ying stopped biting her straw, staring at Jiang Wei who walked out of the school ground, the earlier conversation still on her mind as she pondered about what she had done wrong.
Holding the cup of brown sugar ginger tea, Zhi Ying continued searching for her friends and eventually found Li Ge near the high jump competition area on the drill grounds.
"Where's Jiaojiao?" Zhi Ying asked Li Ge after pulling him out.
Li Ge, who was busy collecting and piecing together all kinds of gossip from various sources, saw Zhi Ying and declared excitedly, "The 5,000-meter champion title is yours and it can't be snatched!"
Zhi Ying nodded, she had never gotten a second place in her life, so of course she thought that the first place could only be hers.
"I don't know if you broke the school record though," Li Ge mumbled, seemingly looking forward to it. "It's fifteen minutes and thirty-six seconds."
"Where's Jiaojiao?" Zhi Ying asked again, not dwelling too much on Li Ge's words.
"Zhao Qian is watching the competition with her," remarked Li Ge as he glanced at his watch and added, "It should be almost over by now."
While conversing, Li Ge and Zhi Ying walked towards the area where the shot put competition was set up.
Lao Han stood outside the circle as a spectator, and when they noticed him, the two approached and greeted him respectfully.
"Zhi Ying ran well just now." Lao Han said with a smile, holding out a bottle of water in his hand.
"Glory for the class." Zhi Ying said with a serious face.
Lao Han looked at his student with gratification and nodded in satisfaction.
At this moment, a gust of wind blew, carrying a familiar aroma to Lao Han's nose. He stared at the coffee cup in Zhi Ying's hand and asked with a concerned frown, "Zhi Ying, why didn't you ask for leave when you're not feeling well? There was no need to force yourself to participate in the competition."
The more Lao Han thought about it, the more he felt that Zhi Ying was overdoing it. How could a girl ignore her body so much just to win. What if something went wrong?
Zhi Ying and Li Ge stood beside him, dumbfounded, wondering what Lao Han was angry about.
"I'm in good health." Zhi Ying looked at the head teacher blankly.
Lao Han, an older man, was too embarrassed to say such a thing, especially when there was a boy of the same age as Zhi Ying standing next to them.
"My daughter wishes to lie in bed for a whole day, and we have to feed her right to the mouth when it comes." Lao Han said vaguely, "Even if you don't feel uncomfortable, Zhi Ying, you can't participate in this kind of competition."
Zhi Ying and Li Ge looked at each other, their faces blank.
"What's wrong with you? Are you sick?" Li Ge whispered to Zhi Ying standing next to him.
Zhi Ying shook her head and said in a confused manner, "No, I'm fine."
By this time, Han Jiaojiao had already finished her competition and was heading their way with Zhao Qian.
"What's the matter?" Han Jiaojiao couldn't help asking, seeing the solemn atmosphere.
Before the three could speak, Han Jiaojiao had already discovered the brown sugar ginger tea in Zhi Ying's hands. She was so familiar with the scent that she immediately recognized it when she smelled it.
"Why are you drinking this for no reason, where did it come from?" Han Jiaojiao knew that Zhi Ying was not on her menstrual cycle, and when she saw her drinking it, her expression became confused.
"I'm a little thirsty, I just bought it at the milk tea shop." Zhi Ying shook the coffee cup and said matter of factly.
"..." Han Jiaojiao was disappointed by Zhi Ying's blunt words, "Don't drink it, Class President has already brought water."
Only then did Lao Han realize that something was wrong, and he was left really speechless by his student's actions.
"Remember to go home early for dinner in the evening, your mother made soup today." Lao Han looked at Han Jiaojiao, who snatched the brown sugar ginger tea from Zhi Ying's hand, and threw it away.
"Understood." Han Jiaojiao nodded and dragged Zhi Ying towards the backup area.
The four of them had walked less than ten meters, and Zhao Qian suddenly reacted, as if he had found an inexplicable piece of inspiration, "Your mother? What is the relationship between Lao Han and your family?"
Han Jiaojiao shook out her long pigtails and held Zhi Ying's hand as she replied bluntly, "My mother is Lao Han's wife, what relationship do you think?"
The three of them stopped in unison and gaped at Han Jiaojiao, shocked.
"Lao Han is your father!" Li Ge was shocked.
"Yes, we both have the same last name. Didn't you notice?" Han Jiaojiao shrugged. "You guys are too slow."
Zhi Ying immediately retorted, "There are five or six students with the same surname Han in the class."
"Anyway, you guys know now." Han Jiaojiao felt that she didn't need to hide or specifically say that Lao Han was her father.
After the four people digested this matter, they headed for the backup area in a mighty manner.
The morning competitions were almost over, and everyone in their class had basically gathered in the backup area. When everyone saw Zhi Ying, they couldn't help but flock around her to celebrate and welcome their champion.
The class president had also brought a special beverage to present to their champion.
"Is there any water?" Zhi Ying asked, refusing to drink the beverage offered and only wanting water. It seemed her insistence on drinking water only grew stronger, even though she had already consumed the ginger tea.
A classmate standing next to a box of water immediately took a bottle and handed it over.
While the students in Class Two were very joyful, with excited chatter and laughter, the atmosphere in the next class was more restrained.
