"You haven't had many cookies," Lily said, opening the cookie box and quietly watching Ethan. Her shoulders were slightly hunched, and she appeared a bit fearful.
This woman came down to offer him cookies?
Just delivering cookies, why should her shoulders be trembling? He's not a monster.
"Are you afraid I'll hit you?!" Ethan squinted his narrow eyes in displeasure.
When she obediently listened to him and didn't provoke him, had he ever really been harsh with her?
Lily didn't answer, only giving a faint smile as she extended the cookie box. "Want more?"
Ethan fixed his gaze on her pale face, glancing down at the cookie box she held, and suddenly, all his anger seemed to vanish.
"Let's go out to eat." Ethan wrapped an arm around her shoulder and headed outside.
Though his tone remained dark, it was far better than before.
She seemed not to sense his murderous intent as much anymore.
