Chapter 6 - 6 - First day at work

Yana still remembers that when she came for an interview last week, she was the last one to be called in. At that time, all the other interviewees had already left.

She was confused. Why was she called in last when she came earlier than them?

The interviewers were a female HR and a female lawyer. She was wearing a business suit, had a pretty face, and spoke to her in a gentle tone. She didn't ask too many questions, but Yana knew that compared with other excellent interviewees, her chances of being accepted were very small.

As Yana thought, her interview ended quickly. She thought she would be greeted with words like "Sorry...", but when she was disappointed, the HR said, "If there are no problems, you can come to work at 9 am on Monday. My name is Daisy, and we will be colleagues in the future."

Thinking about it now, she only asked how old she was, where she lived, and what her salary requirements were. Why did she get accepted directly in the end?

And when she left the office and turned the corner, she accidentally bumped into a man who was carrying a briefcase and was about to go out. The man seemed to be a bit like the man who bumped into her today.

When Yana was packing clothes for work on Monday, her phone vibrated. She put down the clothes in her hand and walked to the table to pick up the phone. On the screen was a text message from Robert.

He asked me out for coffee, but it was late now. She had to go to work tomorrow and prepare a lot of things tonight, so she told him the actual situation and asked for his understanding.

Robert was a very reasonable person. It was not easy for a young man like them to be so considerate. He quickly replied to the text message, gave up inviting Yana for coffee, and congratulated her on finding such a good job so quickly.

Yana smiled when she saw the text message. She felt that although Robert might be so enthusiastic because he had thoughts about her, it was better to have someone who cared about her in this strange big city than to be alone.

Maybe she is not living a good life now, without a complete family, without fancy clothes, without close friends, and even has a high loan to repay.

But if she does a few more live broadcasts and persists until the end of the month, she will basically be able to save enough money to repay the loan. Now she has been hired by Carter, Parker & Adams LLP, although she is only an intern, her life is basically on the right track, and she will definitely get better and better in the future.

With this mood, Yana was radiant the next day and went to work on time as required. In order to look mature, Yana gave up her black-framed glasses and decided to use beauty contact lenses on weekdays.

After entering the office building, she took off her coat and put it on, put on her backpack and squeezed into the elevator. Someone inside had already pressed the 32nd floor, probably one of them was a colleague.

Yana glanced at the people in the elevator, and all were no familiar face.

The elevator arrived at the 32nd floor soon, and Yana went out with a girl who was about the same height as her and very beautiful.

In theory, she should be older than Yana, who had just graduated, but she looked like she was the same age as her. She wore Prada's latest white dress of the season, a beige suit jacket on the outside, and curly hair draped over her shoulders.

Probably noticing someone around her, she looked back at Yana, raised her red lips and said proudly: "Hello."

Yana said kindly: "Hello."

"New here?" The girl glanced at Yana, and said , "You are very beautiful, welcome."

Yana said in a good temper: "Thank you, my name is Yana, nice to meet you."

The girl's smile deepened, and she entered the office without exchanging names with Yana, and walked to the northernmost part of the collective office area. There was a corridor next to that side, and the staff's seats were larger than those in other places, and there were more things, probably because the work was more important.

Yana didn't think too much. After she entered the office, she happened to meet Daisy. Daisy pulled a girl to introduce her: "This is Alice, your supervising lawyer. You will follow her in the future. She will tell you your specific work." After that, she said goodbye to them and left.

Yana bowed slightly to He Qing and said politely: "Hi, lawyer Alice."

Alice laughed out loud when she called her: "Just call me by my name in the future. I just came to the firm a few months earlier than you, and I haven't officially become a lawyer in the firm yet."

She took Yana to the location of their department, which was separated from the lawyer's office on the left. There was a very delicate curtain in the middle, and many beautiful flowers were placed.

"You will sit here from now on." Alice told Yana the location and said, "Let me introduce you to our situation.

Opposite is where the senior lawyers sit. When the lawyers receive the agents, they will go to the reception room over there. If they need any service or hospitality, we will have to go there to help." She pointed to the south and said, "As for that side, it is the office of Mr. Parker and Mr. Carter, among the two partners of the firm."

Yana memorized the office locations of these in her mind, and her focused look made Alice like her.

"Usually, we just help these senior lawyers. Our work is very simple, and complicated cases are usually not given to us." Alice said.

Yana agreed deeply. These jobs are really simple. Basically, you don't need to use your brain. It's enough to be familiar with various office software. Such a simple job pays so much salary every month. Carter, Parker & Adams LLP is really worthy of its reputation and is rich.
