Somewhere in the forest.
Hu Liena slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was a familiar face. She realized she was lying on Su Bai's lap.
"You're awake!" Su Bai noticed Hu Liena stirring and smiled gently.
Hu Liena nodded, then suddenly became alert. "Brother Bai, where are we now?"
Su Bai gently patted her head and said, "Don't worry. We've already left the City of Slaughter."
"So, we successfully passed through the Hell Road?" Hu Liena's eyes lit up with relief, but she quickly felt guilty. "I'm sorry, Brother Bai, for being such a burden."
Su Bai chuckled and shook his head. "Silly girl, you're my woman. There's no such thing as being a burden. The Hell Road was just a minor obstacle for me."
If he wanted, he could have transformed into his true form and flown through the entire Hell Road effortlessly.
Hu Liena nodded, feeling reassured. Then, she leaned in and kissed Su Bai.
After a long moment, they parted. Suddenly, both felt a chilling sensation. An unknown force began to stir within them. Hu Liena, unable to control it, let her killing intent leak out, her eyes turning red instantly.
Su Bai placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, and Hu Liena snapped back to her senses.
"Is this the Killing God Domain?" Hu Liena asked, shocked.
Su Bai nodded.
Hu Liena looked worried. "I can feel how powerful it is, but I'm not able to control it yet."
"Don't worry," Su Bai smiled. "I have a way to help you…"
Before he could finish, Su Bai's expression froze.
Hu Liena looked at him in confusion, not understanding what was happening.
At that moment, Su Bai's consciousness found itself in a dark void, tinged with a faint blood mist. Suddenly, a powerful pressure descended on him, leaving him slightly stunned. It was the first time he had felt such a sensation since his rebirth.
From the pressure, he sensed danger. With his current strength, he could confidently say that not even Qian Daoliu could cause this feeling.
The answer was clear: the being before him wasn't from the Douluo Continent, or perhaps, not even human.
Indeed, a well-built middle-aged man in dark red armor emerged from the darkness. His long hair and eyes were blood-red, emanating an aura of slaughter.
Asura God!
The name flashed in Su Bai's mind.
Su Bai remained silent, knowing that the Asura God must have something important to say. As for attacking him? Gods couldn't descend easily, and even if they did, their power would be greatly diminished. Su Bai wasn't afraid.
"You don't seem surprised by the appearance of a God King," the Asura God said in a raspy voice, curious.
Su Bai stayed silent.
The Asura God sighed softly. "Given your talent, you're fully qualified to inherit my godhood, but since you are a soul beast, even with the Killing God Domain, you cannot inherit a god's position."
Su Bai smiled slightly. He wasn't interested in godhood. Even if he were, the Asura God wouldn't agree because of his soul beast nature.
But the Asura God had descended despite knowing this, which meant he had something else to say.
Sure enough, the Asura God spoke again. "However, not everything is absolute. If you agree to help me with one task, I will not only grant you my godhood but also help you obtain the Dragon God's treasure."
Oh?
Su Bai was intrigued. He didn't care about the godhood, but the Dragon God's treasure piqued his interest. Being of dragon lineage himself, the Dragon God's treasure could benefit him greatly.
"What does the God King want me to do?" Su Bai asked, curious but noncommittal. After all, if it was something even a God King couldn't do, it might be beyond him as well. But since gods couldn't descend easily, there were things only mortals could handle, which was why gods had their emissaries.
The Asura God asked, "Have you heard of the Seven Deadly Sins Gods?"
The Seven Deadly Sins Gods?
Su Bai shook his head. He had never heard of them, not even in the original story. Could this be a butterfly effect caused by his presence?
"Recently, the Divine Realm underwent changes. The Seven Deadly Sins Gods have descended, intending to influence the Douluo Continent," the Asura God explained.
Su Bai sighed. "God King, you overestimate me. I'm just a soul beast. How could I interfere with matters of the Divine Realm?"
"I'm well aware," the Asura God said, waving his hand. "The Seven Deadly Sins Gods are powerful, but we gods are not to be trifled with. Thus, they've resorted to other means."
"Like us, they've released their inheritances on the Douluo Continent," the Asura God continued.
Su Bai suddenly understood.
"Exactly. I want you to kill the inheritors of the Seven Deadly Sins Gods," the Asura God stated.
Su Bai pondered. If it was merely killing the inheritors, that could be manageable. With his current strength, he was nearly invincible on the Douluo Continent. Plus, he was curious about the Dragon God's treasure and its potential benefits for him.
"Alright, I agree, but I can't guarantee I'll find them," Su Bai said.
"No problem," the Asura God replied. "I have a way to help you."
He pointed at Su Bai, leaving a mark on his arm.
"With this mark, you'll sense the presence of the Seven Deadly Sins Gods' inheritors whenever they are nearby," the Asura God explained. With that, his figure began to fade.
Su Bai's eyes cleared, and he found Hu Liena looking at him with concern. She hadn't known what was happening and dared not disturb him.
"Nana, I'm fine," Su Bai reassured her with a smile.
Hu Liena sighed in relief.
"Do you miss your teacher?" Su Bai asked. "Let's go back now."
With that, he took Hu Liena and flew back.
Hu Liena secretly rolled her eyes. Although she did miss her teacher, she knew Su Bai was the one who truly wanted to return.
Soon, they arrived back at Spirit City.
"Teacher, your disciple is back," Hu Liena called out, rushing into Bibi Dong's embrace.
Bibi Dong was surprised but gently patted Hu Liena's back, relieved that she had returned safely. With Su Bai around, Bibi Dong hadn't been too worried.
Hu Liena then recounted their experiences in the City of Slaughter to Bibi Dong.
