Chapter 3 - Ch 3. Jujutsu Basics

I slept surprisingly well considered I was in a cramped hole. Infact I slept so well I was thinking about hitching another ride, before Goatjo began yelling and telling me off. I mean sure it's risky, but they are surprisingly comfortable. Well for as much as a giant dirt golem could be. I think I'd rate it a 7 out of ten.

Climbing out of the now sleeping golem I took a look at my new surroundings. I'm not sure how far we went, but I'm sure we went quite a distance. I honestly have no clue where I am, but I'll figure it out. First things first is to find a place to stay. I'd rather not walk into town with our knowing jujutsu, the locals could be hostile. I doubt it, but it's something to be weary about.

"Yo Goatjo, you said you'd teach me jujutsu."

"We need a shelter, kid"

"We'll talk while I walk."

"Do you even know what to look for?"

"I'll figure it out."

"Focus on clean water and shelter."

"Okay." I said as I began marching off in a random direction. "Teach me while we walk."

"Okay, so jujutsu has three components Barrier, Will, and lastly User. Which do you want to learn first?"

"Easiest to hardest" I said while walking on a road.

"The easiest to understand is Will. It is essentially what you want. Everything a person does is motivated by some desire or want. The body, usually unknown to the user, always moves in that direction. To put it simply, if you want a tail, the body will slowly start developing a tail, but the process is extremely slow, and most people would die before they see any results. To rectify there are different practices. The slowest but surest way is meditation. If you repeatedly imagine that you have a tail and cycle that belief over and over in your head, the process speeds up dramatically. This trains your will and overall strengthens jujustu. The fastest way is making a vow. If you make a vow you have to obey it, yes there are ways around it, but those are often very risky and dangerous. To make a vow however you have to already have learned jujutsu."

"So I believe I can fly, I'll begin to fly? It can't be that easy." Not believing how simple it is.

"It sounds easy, but it's not. At the start a person's will is not strong enough to manifest a physical change in the body. You have to repeatedly strengthen the will via mental exercises, and everytime you don't see results the mind begins telling you that your wrong. To practcie jujutsu you have to ignore that feeling and push on. It is completely illogical and that's why kids usually learn jujutsu faster, because they are more optimistic and imaginative."

"Wait are you meaning to tell me I can't learn cause I'm not kid."

"No, you were woken up by fragments of my remnant jujutsu so you naturally you'll get fragments of my jujustu. You're using it instinctually to strengthen your body right now."

"Shit am I going to turn into a goat!"

"Calm down. You'll only grow some horns and hair."

"FUUUUUUUUUCK!" I screamed clutching my hair. This is worse than death. I'll be turned into a furry.

"I'm joking. No my jujustu has been absorbed by your body and will always act according to your will. Just consider it yours now."

"Thank God, I don't want to be a furry."

"What's a furry?"

"The embodiment of depravity."

"Why wou- Nevermind. Next up are barriers. Like I told you before barriers are just your will projected out side your body, only when you achive this, can you be considered a jujutsu user. When you project your will outside your body it will under go a change and become jujutsu. Jujutsu basic jujutsu gives a few minor abilities. You can enhance your body, permanently alter your body, make vows, enhance objects with jujutsu, and imbue objects with jujutsu."

"What's the different between enhancing and imbuing?"

"Enhancing an object with jujutsu just strengthens the properties of said object, with a low chance of the object awakening jujustu, imbuing is sacrificing part of your jujutsu to give an object a jujutsu. Objects with jujutsu not only are stronger, but can develop a will and personality of their own, usually becoming a matching personality to its creator. Some people even marry a jujutsu tool, because they are a perfect match."

"Weird."

"Lastly the core of jujutsu is the User. Everything about jujutsu stems from the user. The user includes not only your body but your beliefs, personality, all that makes you, you. Because it is so obscure it can't be taught, and can only be found out by you. Once you figure it out, you gain what's called an inmate technique. A jujutsu technique you can use as if is a part of your body made to perfectly suit you."

"What are jujutsu techniques?"

"They are a combination of the componenets will and barrier. By repeateded practice you gain some sort of supernatural ability. The training is the same as all the rest repeat visualization and meditation. Some common techniques are telekinesis, flash step, double jump, summon elements. Stuff that makes life more convenient. There are infinite possibilities, but most people only learn a couple. It is stated though that if you learn a jujutsu technique extremely quickly then you have an inbuilt affinity for a technique and that usually is a clue about discovering your inmate technique.

"Cool." As I let the knowledge sink in. I was right about my increased endurance. It is unusual, but chances are that right now this is considered average strength to everyone else now. I don't know how long I've been asleep but it is probably close to a thousand but that's just on context clues. Honestly I don't know much, hell chances are all that remains of my old life is me, and maybe a few other sleepers. Speaking of sleepers why haven't seen any, not even when I woke up in the city.

"Hey, where are all the sleepers?"

"Those guys. Well truth be told most have them already woke up. After humans escaped the mother there was a huge push to awaken everyone trapped. So overtime most of not everyone has woken up. The fact that you were still asleep was striking gold. Sleepers are really good at absorbing jujutsu cause they lived in a world without it, so even those that weren't awakened did awaken overtime as more jujutsu was released into the atmosphere. Chances we will find more sleepers overtime, but chances are you won't meet any unless you wake them up yourself. To wake them up though will require a high level of jujutsu and cost you some of your strength."

"So all my friends are dead?"

"Truthfully, most likely."

I inhaled hard on hearing this. A lump formed in my throat, but I ignored it. I'm surprised it took so long to hit. I guess saying it out loud made it finally sink in. I could feel my self sinking, but I forcefully dragged my thoughts away. Nows not the time to mourn, plus I have a while new world to explore. I'll figure it out, just not right now.

"So, to learn a technique I just have to imagine it?"

"Yep, but it takes time so don't go expecting to master it right away. You are completely new to jujutsu, and just got a feel for it, you cou-"

I could feel the incoming lecture so I tuned him out and focused on what he told. Believe and feel as if it's real. I don't think that will work for me. I never really did feel real, so that will take to long. Why don't I imagine as everything as a weird dream instead, that way I can do whatever. I'll teleport to that land line.

" I did it." I said while at the power line.

"What?" Goatjo looked at me with a bug eyed stare

"Yeah I did it." I said nonchalantly

"Do it again."

"Okay." I focused my mind and imagined the world as fake. I could feel my jujustu activate and suddenly I'm back to where I was.

Goatjo said nothing, but his goat face showed a look of complete disbelief. Honestly I felt like I should be losing my mind. I just fucking teleported, but it was very underwhelming. I just decided to pretend I teleported and did it. There is no way it is that easy.

" You said it was difficult?"

"It is difficult, the only thing to explain this would be an innate technique."

"You also said that was difficult to discover."

"IT FUCKING IS!"

I was shocked at his outburst. I never expected Goatjo to react like that. It seemed completely out of left field, he always seemed more down to earth. His face was deep in thought. It looked like he was trying to make sense of something and his face was in deep thought. I stayed quiet.

"Sorry kid, but you don't know how big of a deal this is. Most people spend months trying to learn techniques, some naturals can do it in a few weeks. Hell, even sleepers take time despite being jujustu prodigies, but you just did it. What you did is against all common sense. You took centuries of study and spit on it. Tell me what equation you used."

"What equation?"

"Thought processes, it's called a jujutsu equation. It's the steps of thinking you went through to accomplish it."

"I don't know what to tell you, I just pretended the entire world was pretend and tried to teleport."

Goatjo's began to shake with rage. His took form of a sour glare. I could almost feel the rage. What ever I did was clearly wrong. I stood silent waiting for his response. I expected to be yelled at, but when he spoke his voice was calm and clear.

"Kid, what you did was preform a high level of jujutsu that even some masters can't do. I don't know how it was so easy for you, but you need to be careful with that."

"What exactly did I do?"

"Reverse jujutsu. Instead of making your will real you instead made reality fake. Most people can only do this by making a very heavy vow, but you did it easily. Who hurt you?"

My mind went blank.
