"You can get up now. Until when are you planning on kneeling on the floor?" Ian said as he watched realization dawn on Shadow Fang's face.
Shadow Fang quickly stood up.
Going to the sofa and sitting down, Shadow Fang stood in front of Ian and did not choose to sit down even though Ian said he could.
Ian let this trivial issue go. Feeling the whim to drink tea, Ian was about to call for a maid to bring him a cup of boba tea, when Shadow Fang suddenly spoke up.
"That night, what I saw… what you… did…" Shadow Fang found it hard to bring up, it seemed like sensitive information what happened that night. But Shadow Fang could not hold back the instinct to know, the same instinct that demanded his loyalty towards Ian.
It was the exact feeling where a subordinate wanted to know how powerful and distinguished his master was.
Ian had expected Shadow Fang to ask this question from the very start. However, he had no thoughts to reveal the true nature of his powers to Shadow Fang just yet.
Seeing Ian look at him with a smile and no intention to speak, Shadow Fang went down again, saluted, and said, "Forgive me! I overstepped my bounds."
Ian shook his head and had Shadow Fang stand back up. "It's nothing. Just don't ask anymore. When the time is right, all will naturally be revealed to you."
Shadow Fang, "Yes!"
"Now that your organization thinks you're dead. You might as well forsake your current name. Instead of Shadow Fang, is there a name you like and want to name yourself with?" Ian asked Shadow Fang in his last sentence.
Shadow Fang shook his head without hesitation. He had no name he wanted to be called by, however, most importantly, he wanted Ian to give him a new name as he is now his master.
Shadow Fang really wanted Ian to give him a name.
And Ian received the message Shadow Fang sent him through his eyes.
"Okay. Since you don't have one. Let's call you…" Ian muttered in thought as he tried to come up with a suitable name for Shadow Fang, the former rank one assassin. "How about…"
*****
Getting up in the morning, Ian dressed himself up in his school uniform without anyone's help, got his things ready, and headed downstairs for breakfast.
Outside his room stood a man dressed in a plain black shirt and a pair of black pants looking cold and upright.
"Good morning, master."
Ian cheerily beamed and greeted back, "Good morning, Shade."
Ian was in a particularly good mood today because his plan was finally about to be set into motion. Since Shade, formerly known as Shadow Fang, has joined his team, some things which will be inconvenient for him to do personally can be done by him. Currently, Ian did not want to attract any attention to himself, whether it is his brother or those watching them in the dark.
You might be wondering why Ian did not directly go to the enemies' base and directly finish them off. It's because they are a wide-spread organization, their minions hide in every corner of the world, while the head of the organization is unknown. In Ian's past life, he had never seen the face of the man who ordered the ruin of his family. He had exterminated countless of their branches but he never caught a glimpse of their face. This showed how little the damage he had done mattered to them. To that behemoth, he was just an annoying fly buzzing around, occasionally spoiling the food.
Ian understands that he alone can not go through every nook and cranny of the entire planet and cut off the head's arms and legs. It would take too much time and time was what he doesn't have.
Therefore, Ian planned on gathering many subordinates under him and then secretly carry out operations that stall for more time for him to find and take care of the organization head. Once the head and the main members of his organization are gone, the rest will naturally scatter.
This time, they will definitely not succeed!
Ian's eyes burned with deep and twisted hatred for a moment, causing Shade to be startled as sweat broke out of his body.
This was the first time Shade had encountered such dark and burning resentment in a person. No matter how his past targets had hated him and resented their deaths, it had never been as heavy as this.
It was as if a resentful ghost had come back from the dead into the world of the living to take revenge.
However, that look quickly disappeared from Ian's eyes as he smiled once again, returning back to the aura of innocence and politeness.
Signaling to Shade, Ian walked ahead.
Shadow Fang followed after, with Ian's bag in hand.
Downstairs, Angus was waiting for Ian at the breakfast table. Reading the news on his tablet and listening to work reports from his subordinate, Angus was as busy as ever.
"Good morning, brother!" Ian greeted and sat down beside Angus.
The breakfast table was made to sit 10 people: 1 on each shorter side and 4 on each longer side. Angus sat at the head of the table while Ian sat on the first seat of the four chairs, to the left of Angus.
Angus ordered the servants to tell the kitchen staff to bring up the breakfast.
Angus turned to chat with Ian. Breakfast being one of the only meals they had together due to Angus's busy schedule, Angus naturally wanted to know more about his brother's arrangements and Ian did not mind talking about his plans and what he had done.
"Ian, if I didn't remember wrong, today is the day your school counselor will be talking to you about potential high schools you can go to. I know you have excellent grades. Just choose any school you want, don't mind the tuition expenses, your brother has more than enough to send you to high school 100 times over," Angus said as he joked.
Ian laughed. "No need. Just going to high school once is going to be enough for me. Thank you, brother, I understand." Ian knows that his family does not worry about the issue of money. Although the company has been struggling with obtaining deals lately, the Everett Touch corporation is still a giant among other giants. Plus the support from the underside of the corporation, it was nothing.
"By the way, brother, I want to introduce someone to you," Ian said.
"Oh? Did you get a little girlfriend already to bring home?" Angus teased as he watched Ian get annoyed.
"No!" Ian rolled his eyes. Sometimes his brother is just too playful and annoying, he knows that's not it but he still says it! "It's him. I know you know."
"Yes…" Angus said in a low voice as his eyelids lifted up to reveal the orange of his eyes that deepened as they stared at Shade behind Ian.
"From now on, he will be my bodyguard. Make him the chief of my bodyguards," Ian demanded. Not requesting this of his brother, but demanding it.
Angus did not mind this manner in which Ian spoke to him. If it were anyone else who dared to say this in any kind of commanding tone or attitude to him, Angus would have punched them and made his bodyguards throw them out.
Shifting his eyes back to Ian, the orange of his eyes returned to their previous shade.
Like the changing of colors due to different emotions.
"Ian, do you think they would be convinced?"
"They would have to be. I chose him. If they dare to question him, it means they're questioning me." Ian said nonchalantly. "But I suppose they could fight it out."
'It'll be interesting to see a bunch of men in their 30s being beaten badly by a guy in his 20s. Hehehe!' Ian laughed to himself as he mischievously smiled.
Angus saw the scheming look in Ian's eyes and helplessly sighed.
At this time, breakfast was served.
After finishing a luxurious breakfast, Ian was full and headed out to the car waiting to drive him to school with Shade trailing behind him.
Following closely behind him and standing at attention for Ian's every beck and call, Shade walked under the shadows of the leaves of the tall and wide trees outside. He seemed almost invisible within the shadows.
'Shade… What a fitting name.' Ian thought to himself as he slid into the car's backseat.
The car drove Ian smoothly to school.
Handing over Ian's school bag, Shade watched as Ian walked through the school gates before vanishing. Guarding Ian's safety in the dark.
*****
In this rich kid middle school, a male student with purple hair and purple eyes strolled down the middle of the hall. Everyone made way for him as he moved forward. None dared to encroach the middle area of the hall when he was using it.
The male student with purple hair and purple eyes ignored the eyes on him and was unperturbed by the normal special treatment he received.
Sliding open the door to the counselor's office, the male student entered and closed the door. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief as the previously paused activities and conversations resumed.
"Ah, Ian, you're here. Have a seat," the school counselor said as he gestured for the male student with purple hair and purple eyes to take a seat.
"Hello, teacher," Ian greeted before taking a seat.
"You already know why you were called here. So do you know what high school you want to attend after you graduate from here? With your grades, all excellent and prestigious schools' doors are open to you."
Ian smiled. "Yes, I already know which school I want to attend."
The counselor looked intrigued, "Oh?" Usually students come to him confused and undecided despite the school constantly urging them to think about their choices and choose a fitting school for their future education.
"Which would that be?"
"S High School."
"Oh! That is a great school choice! This high school is renowned for the high entrance requirements, and all those who graduate from their special class are eyed and snatched by all the top universities! A great choice indeed!" The counselor exclaimed, excited that another one of their school's students will be accepted into that top-tier school. This would be awesome news for the reputation of their school.
Their middle school, D Middle School, was one of the top schools in the country with an average of grades ranking Top Three in the county. But even they only had 3-6 students accepted every year into S High School. That's how high the difficulty level was to get into S High School.
After conversing a little longer, the counselor sent Ian back to class.
Upon opening the counselor's office door, the hall hushed into an abnormal silence as Ian stepped out and walked in the center lane of the hall.
S High School.
Nationally acclaimed top-tier and prestigious high school that has been around for a hundred years, producing countless top students that universities want to pocket.
It is also the gathering place of the rich.
Although the surface of the school seemed bright, it was only borrowing the light of the special class, the majority of which was made up of poor and middle-class family's sons and daughters who received scholarships. They make up 10% of the entire school's student body.
The remaining 90% were made up of rich kids from wealthy families and chides from powerful and influential families.
Their money was what kept S High School up and running while continuously producing top talents and scholars.
What better place than this to make connections and make use of useful people in.
While deep in thought, Ian almost knocked into someone.
When Ian almost came into contact with them, the other person jumped away before Ian could touch them. Ian walked past and the person heaved a sigh of relief.
Their friend came to them and whispered anxiously, "Are you okay? You almost touched him!"
The person whispered back, also feeling scared after the disaster passed, "I know! Good thing I reacted quickly, or else who knows what will happen to me?"
Leaving the whispers and stares of fear behind, Ian never placed any of them in his mind.
