After escaping the creature's clutches, Ennis reached residential area 24, where her family lived. After twenty minutes of walking, she finally reached the front entrance of the house, a two-story house with a classic design of a small yard with a single large tree in the middle, with a small swing hanging from it.
This was the same house where she spent 18 years of her life. A beautiful neighborhood with warm neighbors and her friend Angela. With bittersweet memories.
Ennis came out of her thoughts and went to the door. She pushed the door handle to open the door.
But the door was locked. Ennis remembered that he forgot the house key and left it in the car, anyway he couldn't go to the car anymore, the road was far and that monster was definitely waiting for him.
So he had to find another way.
She suddenly remembered that her mother used to always hide a spare key in a corner. Since her mother was very fond of roses, she had dedicated a part to them in her small garden.
There were various flowers in the garden, but in the middle of the garden, a bunch of pink roses could be seen.
Ennis went to those roses and dug in the corner of the hedge next to those roses and found a small metal box with the key in it. She quickly went to the door and entered the house after unlocking it.
The atmosphere of the house was the same as when they left there. Ennis was in a lot of pain so she went to the kitchen and took the first aid kit and disinfected the wound on her stomach and bandaged it to stop the bleeding.
And took some painkillers to reduce the pain.
She felt hungry because of the long walk. But now he was injured and could not eat every food in such conditions. So she took a piece of bread that was left over from the morning and ate it to satisfy her hunger.
Ennis looked out of the window, the weather was still rainy and the black clouds covered the sky, as if there was a war among the clouds, and due to the intensity of the battle, many lightnings covered the sky.
She went to living room and lay down on the sofa, her eyelids were heavy and she fell asleep without realizing it.
"Krang, klanggggg."
A loud noise scratched Ennis's ears and made him wake up. She yawned: "Aaaah."
and gave a stretch to her body.
"Ah, what's up, what's that noise?!"
Ennis was totally wondering what that annoying sound was about. A sound like a hammer hitting an iron object. That voice was so loud that it made Ennis feel threatened.
"Ah, damn it. If those monsters hear this noise, what if they come here?! What kind of bastard is doing this?!"
Ennis was quite angry, and a vein stood out on her forehead of rage, and he fisted her hands and went to the door to go out and check what was going on, because the voice was so close to her.
She went out of the door and entered yard, she couldn't see the street because of the high walls, so she went to the courtyard door and looked outside.
Ennis's bright blue eyes turned white and the color paled from her face, the scene before her eyes was very terrifying.
"No, no..., that's impossible?! What should I do now?!"
Those hunchback gray creatures with long claws were there and they were destroying every single house and there were only three houses left to reach Ennis's house.
Ennis got worried and grabbed her hair and tied it. Disappointment rippled on her face. She had just narrowly escaped from one of those creatures, and received a deep wound.
She started biting her nails out of stress and muttering under her breath: "What should I do?! Should I run away?!"
She didn't know what to do. Does she have a chance to escape?
The number of those monsters was large; About 10. She had no chance against them. Fighting against them is suicide.
"I have to run away before they get here."
Ennis went into the house to gather some essentials, she went to her room and took a backpack and went to the kitchen and completely emptied the first aid kit and took all the things she wanted including antiseptic and some bandages. And some painkillers. Then she took some canned food that was left.
Meanwhile that annoying voice was getting closer, she had to hurry to escape before they got here. So she hurried to the storeroom next to the kitchen, it was completely dark, so Ennis lit the candle she had found in the pantry and searched there for a few things. After a few minutes, she found a flashlight, a hammer and a saw by looking through the box and cupboard in the storage room.
"Oh, I suppose this hammer and saw would be good for fighting those monsters?"
Anyway, after her first encounter with the creature, Ennis realized that they have tough skin and cannot be fought with a small knife. She was really lucky that her guard was down and she saw Ennis as a weak creature, so Ennis was able to injure that monster and find a chance to save herself.
Ennis, who was almost done work and had taken all the things she wanted, checked her wound and bandaged it again and changed her clothes, and since the weather was cold, she wore a woolen dress with a black sport coat over it.
"It's time to go."
She was fully prepared and left the house. Fortunately, the walls of the courtyard were high, so those monsters could not see inside the courtyard.
So Ennis cautiously went to the courtyard door and stood by the door to look outside. Incredibly, they were only one house away from Ennis. Ennis said to himself: "You mean I can run away?!"
She was very scared and her hands were shaking. She hesitated what to do.
If she goes out the door and runs at full speed, will she be able to escape, or will they find her and kill her while she is running?
This doubt was like an ant that was eating her from the inside.
Undoubtedly, staying in the house is not safe at all, because the previous houses were completely destroyed and nothing was left of them, and instead a deep hole had replaced those houses.
So if she stays at home, she will die.
The only solution for Ennis was to run away from there. So she tried to calm down and keep her cool-headed.
She took a deep breath: "Hofff."
and went out of the yard.
Trees had been planted on the sidewalk and they had not been pruned yet, so their branches were bent and looked like a beautiful green umbrella, and this somewhat blocked the sight of those monsters so that they would not notice Ennis.
So Ennis took advantage of this situation and quietly walked away.
On her way, there were several cars parked on the side of the sidewalk, that's why Ennis went to one of those cars when he had gone half way and stood next to it. to check the situation again.
"They didn't seem to notice me, well, I should hurry before I get caught."
Ennis had to hurry, she had to get away before those creatures noticed her. Meanwhile, Ennis froze, a cold sweat running down her back, and her skin was tingling.
Drops of sweat dripped from her forehead, she had an ominous feeling. And her instinct told her to run, without looking behind her.
Something was approaching, and its footsteps were loud and heavy.
She punched her legs hard. "Move your damn legs?!"
Helplessness was visible on her face. Ennis gripped the saw in her hand tightly and turned to look behind her.
Even though her instinct told her to run away, it was useless to run away because the monster had noticed her.
The only way to save her was to fight, an unequal and unfair fight.
