Chapter 16 - BROTHER-SISTER TALK

HANEUL slightly frowned at his sister's behavior. "What are you saying?"

Haeun sighed and sat down on the side of the bed, facing her brother. "Have you seen your face lately in the mirror? You look too... charming. Does manifesting into an Omega actually increased one's sex appeal?"

Haneul grimaced when he heard that. He could understand why his younger sister would think like this. After all, manifesting as an Omega or an Alpha could affect one's physical development.

For example, Alphas tended to be a lot taller, while Omegas were much more petite and slender. Just look at his sister. Haeun was much taller compared to what he remembered her height was at that age.

He should be thankful that he manifested at the age when his growth spurt was almost at its end. Because of that, he maintained his original height. Which would make him much taller than most Omegas.

But anyway, what his sister said had nothing to do with him manifesting as an Omega. It was simply Yeomra's 'black magic'. Honestly, if that guy was planning to give him a gift, why couldn't he just increase his dancing ability? If he had done that, Haneul would kowtow to him every night. Instead, he was given... this.

But there was another thing that caught his attention from what Haeun had said. "Where did you learn the word 'sex appeal'? Do you even know what that means?"

Haeun rolled her eyes. "Of course, I know. It's even weirder if I don't. There's a lot of things one could learn on the internet, you know?"

Ah yes, the ever 'reliable' internet. Even if Haneul wanted to prevent his younger sister from discovering terms like sex appeal or whatever on the internet, it would be impossible. After all, Haeun was no longer a kid whose every action could easily be monitored. Even more so in this day and age.

"But that's beside the point," Haeun continued. "Seriously, Oppa, you should be more careful from now on. There are a lot of bad people out there. To those kinds of people, you will definitely seem like a tempting target."

"Okay, that's it. Haeun-ah, try to lessen the hours you spent surfing the internet. You're obviously being affected by the things you read."

"Oppa! This is a very serious matter!" Haeun said in an annoyed voice. "You're an Omega now. You should know how dangerous things could be for you."

Of course, Haneul knew of that. Aside from the memories he had about the things he learned from the sex education class the him in this world had, the doctor in charged of him also gave him some do's and don'ts. But perhaps, because he hadn't truly yet felt that he was living in a world different from the one he lived, he couldn't truly understand the implication of him being an Omega.

Seeing his sister react like this, he was once again reminded that he couldn't go about living like he didn't just manifest as an Omega. Even if there's a lot of medicine and other things that could help him live normally, one couldn't just ignore the possibility of accidents occurring. Like forgetting to take suppressants and then suddenly going into heat in a public place, things like that. It was even harder for him because of the damn 'black magic' Yeomra put on him.

Once again, he inwardly cursed the king of the underworld for giving him this... gift, if it could even be called that.

"Don't worry, I will always be careful," he said to pacify Haeun. "I will take my suppressants on time and spray medicinal perfume to mask my pheromones."

"The problem here is this weird atmosphere around you," Haeun said with a sigh. "Honestly, I think even an Omega would not hesitate to jump you given the opportunity."

Haneul decided not to comment on that. He felt like this discussion would just make a weird turn if he did. So, he promptly change the subject.

"But what are you doing here so early?" he asked. "You did not skip class, right?"

That question certainly pulled Haeun's attention away from the previous topic. His sister was attending the same middle school he did. It was also the same middle school where their father was teaching. So, the two would normally go to the hospital together.

And yet Haeun not only came alone, she also came quite early.

"I have no intention of getting scolded by Mom, so no, I didn't skip class," she said, looking at Haneul as if to say, 'Why would you even think that?' "The afternoon class ended early, and there are no club activities, so I just decided to come here."

Haneul had already suspected that might be the case, but he asked anyway to ensure he could successfully change the topic. And he did.

"Ah, right, you were playing the guitar just now," Haeun said, as if just remembering. "What were you playing?"

When he heard his sister inquiring about that, Haneul thought it was a good opportunity to get someone's honest opinion about the song he's planning to use for his audition.

"I'll play it, but please tell me what you honestly think afterward."

Haeun, feeling curious as to why her brother would say that, just nodded.
