Chapter 5 - The world‘s End: Fate‘s Trick (2)

Nine days have passed since Noah broke free from his chains of despair and resolved to survive for the memory of his loved ones. It is now day 40, and life has been surprisingly manageable. They have found an ample supply of food and are getting along well, but the peace feels unsettling.

Their fears are soon realized when a heavy rainstorm begins. The rain turns into a flood, and water engulfs the store. Noah can swim, but Yuri cannot. She clings desperately to the ceiling as the water rises. Noah rushes in, searching for her. The water keeps rising, and just as they are about to grasp each other's hands, the torrent tears them apart. The building collapses, and they are swept away in different directions, screaming each other's names: "Yuri!" shouts Noah. "Noah!" Yuri calls back. As they are carried further apart, they both lose consciousness.

Noah wakes up on top of a hill, surrounded by falling snow. Panicking, he realizes he must find Yuri but doesn't know where to start. Hunger gnaws at him, and he coughs up the water he swallowed. He begins searching for something to eat, driven by the need to survive.

Meanwhile, Yuri awakens to the sensation of being shaken. She opens her eyes to see a deer, gently nudging her and warming her with its body heat. Grateful, she strokes the deer and stands up. The landscape is covered in snow. Fortunately, she had prepared for an outing the day before and has food in her pockets to last a few days, but she still needs to find shelter.

"I need to find shelter," she mumbles. To her amazement, the deer seems to understand and leads her to its shelter, which is partially destroyed.

Yuri thinks, "I can rebuild this. Having a companion is essential for mental sanity." She strokes the deer again and begins the process of rebuilding the shelter. As both Noah and Yuri tackle their situations in entirely different ways, they wonder to themselves: "Will I ever meet him/her again?"
