After office hour. The sun turned to orange and is ready to set up to lay in place. The sky above the CBD looks stunning magic, as if the town is hovering in the clouds. The clouds hanging above the city scrapers were like sweet cotton candy with fruit flavor, so nice to see.
Across the street, in a luxurious apartment building. The CBD complex is surrounded by huge and tall buildings. One of them is the apartment, which stands tall and pretty among the others just a few blocks across the street from the Diamond Office building.
Val couldn't stop admiring Jason's suite. It was the best money could buy: comfortable, spacious, filled with luxurious interiors, cool air, a pleasant scent, spotless, with floors so shiny they reflected like mirrors. Each floor had only two suites, and they even had private elevators. It was amazing.
Val couldn't stop his smiles, if this was a dream, he wished he had never woken up from it. He might need to adjust to staying there and start to behave like a city boy, He was just a country boy who never had a chance to see this, he didn't even dare to dream about this.
"Wow"
Both get entered the huge apartement. Jason introduced his new roommate, Iyan, a large man with a friendly face. Iyan was a chef at a multinational five-star hotel, earning a hefty salary; it wasn't surprising he could afford the apartment, even with Jason's intentionally high rent.
"Val, this is Iyan. Iyan, this is Valiant. He'll be staying in the other room starting today."
Val shook Iyan's hand, which had been outstretched expectantly. Iyan's hand was so big it completely wrapped Val's hand. Iyan smiles so wide at Val, who felt a little awkward.
"Hi Iyan."
Actually, Jason didn't really need the extra rent money; he had everything he needed. But loneliness had him thinking strangely, that's why he decided to share his space with a stranger who he never knew before, although, he checked his background beforehand. Iyan beamed at Val's presence, seeming genuinely pleased.
"Hey, welcome Val. Make yourself at home."
Val nodded, holding Iyan's massive hand until he finally released it. Compared to Iyan's, his hand felt tiny.
Val couldn't wait to explore his room. A comfy bed, a private bathroom, and a huge window with a surprisingly small city view – he could even see their office building from here! "This is amazing!" he thought.
"Wow, Boss, this is awesome!"
The next day was the weekend. Jason and Val busied themselves arranging Val's new room, positioning the furniture as the way he like it. They even moved a large single sofa from the living room into the room, at Val's request, and Jason readily obliged.
"Let's tilt it a bit, watch your feet," Jason said, struggling to maneuver the enormous sofa through the doorway.
"Be careful, Boss!"
"Watch your step, scoot over a bit. We need to tilt it slightly to get it in."
"Oof, why is this chair so wide, Boss?"
They struggled to get the single sofa into the room, finally placing it near the window so Val could wake up and see the morning sky. After it's done, Val threw himself onto the bed, sweat soaking his face and shirt. They just moved a couple of small items and the single sofa was the biggest and felt so incredibly tired
"Whew, that was tiring."
Jason collapsed beside him, chuckling at Val's exhaustion – and his own.
"That's just one sofa, we still have the others."
Jason curled up, covering Val from above, gazing at his face from very close. Val was surprised, but grinned, showing off his pearly white teeth at his sweaty, dust-covered boss.
"Hey Boss, your face is all dirty! Where's all the dust from?"
Jason smiled, resting an elbow beside Val's head, looking down at him, then lowering his head to wipe the sweat with Val's shirt.
"It's all because of you."
Val giggled as his boss rubbed his sweaty face on his clothes.
"Akh, Boss, that tickles! Stop it!"
Val tried to push Jason away, but Jason caught his hand. They both paused, Jason especially, captivated by Val's beautiful smile, his pink, adorable lips. Even Val's sweaty slim jawline makes him swallow hard.
"Hey..."
Val swallowed hard. Their breaths came fast, louder than anything else around them. Jason, who froze for a couple of seconds, widened his eyes, pulled himself up off the bed. What he has done? He's been too obvious, didn't he?
"Uh, there's still the coffee table. I'll get it from the storage room." Jason almost fell, bumping into the large sofa behind him. He hurried out of the room, leaving Val still stunned on the bed.
Val widen his eyes, he almost have heart attack because of that, what just happen?
....
Diamond Building, nearing lunchtime.
Jason approached Val, who was sitting in front of the emergency stairs. It was lunchtime, what was he doing there? Jason wondered.
"Hey, what are you doing here? Why aren't you getting lunch? I saw Anwar and Alex leave ages ago."
Val turned, slightly surprised. He slipped his phone into his pocket.
"Boss, I was on the phone… uh, you not going out for lunch?"
Jason furrowed his brow.
"I just asked why you weren't getting lunch. Are you on a diet?"
Val smiled at Jason's teasing.
"No, why would I be on a diet? Let's go get something to eat."
Val stood up, heading towards the elevator with renewed energy. Jason remained where he was. Val's behavior had been strange lately; he seemed to daydream a lot when left alone.
"Okay, I'll treat you to Japanese food this time," Jason said, putting his arm around Val's shoulders from behind.
"Japanese food? On what occasion?"
The elevator doors opened.
"Well, you moving into my apartment, we should celebrate!"
"What's to celebrate about that?" said Val pursed his lips.
"Oh yeah, Grandpa asked me to invite you to dinner tomorrow at a restaurant near apartment. You have to come."
Val smiled. It was strange; why would the big boss suddenly invite him to dinner? Was he going to get yelled at because of the other day?
"Uh, do I have to go, Boss? Is he going to fire me?" asked Val with small voice.
Jason shrugged. He found it odd too, as his grandfather rarely invited anyone to dinner. Was his grandfather interested in Valiant's good looks? That definitely couldn't be allowed, the old lech.
"I find it weird too. He's never done this before. I'll ask him what he wants."
The elevator doors opened on the lobby floor.
"Well, I've never eaten at a five-star restaurant before. The food must be amazing!"
Jason escorted Val out of the tall office building.
"Well, that was not bad," he said.
But dinner was off. Ian Garber had unexpected overseas guests, keeping him at the office and forcing him to dine with them. This was, of course, a huge relief for Valiant. He wasn't sure what the old man wanted from him, but he was happy to still be working there, with about eight months left of his internship.
