The PKs turned into motes of blue lights after Atlas and Ferin looted all their valuables.
"They are so poor!" Ferin complained as she looked at the loot that she got.
Atlas was in charge of creating items in the future, and all loot from PKs went to Ferin's inventory. That was something they had decided long ago.
"Look, At. Besides the sword, they almost got nothing on them! Beginner equipment can't drop, so all they have is 4 HP Potions and 36 Nar! So poor!"
"That's actually pretty good for newbies." Atlas said as he looked at his status.
Because they killed 3 players just now, they should be close to leveling up to level 10. The EXP bar under his level was almost filled to the brim.
"This is pretty good. We got unexpected free farming from killing them. But we have to be careful not to kill any more monsters or we won't get that drop we want to. Having a higher monster than a monster will decrease the drop rate, remember?"
"Yup, I do remember that. Ugh, that reminded me of our hard work killing those Lava Golem. The drop rate decreased so much because we're 65 levels higher than it! This is why many people make new characters to grind materials."
"Or just buy them." Atlas finished Ferin's complaint and looked at the menu, more specifically at the current time. "Hmm, an hour and a half into the night cycle. The rare monster should've spawned already by now."
"Got it."
Both of them went down the narrow cave's hallway and proceeded slowly. They encountered a few Night Bats, but they ignored the monsters and focused on finding the rare monster.
Due to this cave being located near the newbie village, the space inside wasn't that big. It only had less than 30 rooms that spanned around 2 to 3 KM long.
Room after room they checked stealthily. Until they found an unusual bat in the 19th room.
"There it is."
Atlas pointed at the bat with a red name above its head. Many smaller bat corpses littered around its body. Its mouth was drenched in blood from the bat it sucked.
Unlike normal monsters, rare monsters had a unique name. For example this bat.
Naturally, it was also stronger than the usual monster. Fortunately, this vampire bat was a cannibal and didn't mess well with other Night Bats. Meaning, they could fight it without worrying about interference.
"Woah, it's creepy. I don't think a vampire bat is that big in real life. It must be a different species."
"I don't think there exists a bat that big, Fer."
"Eh, disappointing. That leather will make good clothes."
They joked around as they entered the 10 x 15 rooms with 5 meter ceiling. In a way, they were pretty lucky that the room the rare monster spawned wasn't any bigger.
Atlas threw all of the Sticky he had in his inventory around the entrance and held his staff tighter.
At this point, the monster had noticed them and threw the bat in his mouth to the ground. Its predatory instinct got excited upon finding bigger prey.
"Look at that, it bared its fangs at us." Ferin played with her new sword, swinging it around. "Anytime, At!"
With Ferin ready at her location, Atlas launched his attack.
"[Mana Bolt]"
The bluish bolt shot from the tip of the staff passed by Ferin, who began to run, and went straight to Vampire Bat's wing. It pierced through the leather-looking wing, creating a hole in it.
Surprised that the attack worked, the monster shrieked in anger. It raised its wings to attack, but Ferin had already made a move first. Her sword made an arch and cut across the monster's wing.
Red hexagons spurted from it as the HP bar above the bat decreased. The damage was pretty high. Those two attacks decreased 10% of the bat's HP. It was mainly because of Atlas' MAG focused build and Ferin's new sword.
However, they couldn't lower their guard yet. No matter how high their damage was, the enemy was a rare monster.
"Oops!"
The bat tried to bite Ferin and she was forced to jump back to safety. Noticing its attack missed, the bat opened its mouth wide and a fireball was formed in front of its mouth. It immediately shot it before Ferin hit the ground.
"Whoa, magic!" Ferin exclaimed in surprise. She couldn't dodge, so she shouted for help. "At!"
Boom!
A bluish bolt made contact with the fireball midair, triggering its explosion. Ferin was blown away, her HP was chipped a little bit.
"Wow, thanks! If that hit me, I don't think I would survive."
"Be careful, Fer. Our enemy is a rare monster. We need to chip its HP slowly. No rush at all, we have all the time we need in the world."
"Yeah, my bad. I guess I was too excited for the first world announcement." Ferin laughed without any shred of guilt. "Anyway, let me go in once again. [Dash]."
Dashing forward at a fast speed, Ferin lowered her stance. Her sword sprung upward when she was close to the Vampire Bat. It connected and chipped the monster's HP slightly.
The monster didn't stand still. It counterattacked with a bite attack, followed by a swipe with its wing. The cut earlier had been healed up and it could use them again.
"Try harder!"
Ferin dodged all the attacks skillfully with a minimum movement. She laughed loudly every time the monster's attack missed.
Having had enough of being dodged, the monster created a fireball in front of its mouth again. It was the second magic attack.
The bunny girl was forced to retreat, but it wasn't because she was afraid. But it was because Atlas' support was incoming.
"[Mana Bolt]"
Boom!
Once the [Mana Bolt] hit the fireball inside the bat's mouth, it exploded and damaged the monster itself. Ferin used this chance to attack the monster relentlessly. Her sword became a blur as she swung it a few times.
Vampire Bat's HP bar decreased at a rapid speed. It was visible through naked eyes. Once it decreased by 50%, its red eyes shone brightly and it spread its wings.
A shockwave was created from its sudden movement, knocking Ferin back. She landed beside Atlas, still as calm as before.
"It's coming." Atlas said, pointing his staff at the monster, "The second phase."
