"Alric!" Alric closed his eyes when he heard the tearful voice. He did not turn and kept staring at Alex. His body was trembling a bit.
He did not have the courage to face this woman. She had done so much for him. And only asked for Alex's welfare in exchange. And yet.. He could not do it for her.
He felt her warm skin touching his hand and his skin burnt. The shame, the guilt, the hatred and self loathing enveloped him in their arms. His whole body froze and he did not know what to say to the woman.
"It is not your fault child that Alex was fighting with a group of thugs!" the woman sighed. She knew this child too well. Many think that he was cold, but she knew how vulnerable he was in his heart.
Alric's gaze flickered. But before he could ask something, he heard the girl coughing. He finally noticed Amaya standing beside Alex's mother.
