Clay did not dare approach her. She didn't seem like the approachable type. A cold and silent person. Known for being insanely popular while also being friendly with absolutely nobody. Except for Nora Flamesworth and her brother, Cole Ignias.
Sofia went up to the summoning circle and blasted it with a lightning bolt. She was a conjurer. Though she could do magic without chanting. He could only do it for one spell. At least, that's what Clay had heard. A storm hawk made its way out of the summoning circle. A bird that seemed to be made of golden lightning. It perched itself on her shoulder as she made a contract and walked off. The rest of the students had nothing special, though one dwarven student had summoned an earth golem, and an elven student a fairy.
Clay made his way to the circle after everyone was done. Only one person left in the stands, Nora. It was had not to look at her. Since she was the only person there. But he managed to keep his gaze away.
'Hmph…I don't think I should go for a specific element…'
Students could control what element their bond would be of by hitting the summoning circle with some kind of spell. But Clay just transferred his blank mana into the circle using his hand. The circle glowed white before something incredibly minuscule started to emerge itself from the summoning circle. The glow didn't allow Clay to see the being before it diverged. And there it was.
The smallest snake Clay had ever seen. About the size of a garden snake. That looked like it couldn't hurt a fly. It was rather cute. Green in color. With a light pink tongue flicking out, though cuteness wasn't exactly what he was hoping for. Rather, a large hungry serpent would be better. But he got what he got.
He heard someone chuckle in the stands but looked over to the seat where Nora was. And found nobody there.
"Hmph, that certainly wasn't a coincidence."
He sighed and let the snake crawl up his arm, letting it rest upon his shoulder. An examiner came over to him.
"Have you decided a name so we can register him?"
"Um…" He blanked for a second. He had no idea what to name him, so he just blurted something out. "Uh, Ophi."
"…Ophi?"
"Yes, Ophi."
"Very well, you have a baby serpent registered in your name as Ophi."
"A baby serpent?"
"Yes. Normal snakes cannot be spirits, only serpents. Which means it is a young one."
"Ah…that makes sense."
The examiner walked away and left Clay to his thoughts. Ophi coiled around his arm and bit his hand, Clay jolted. And then Ophi disappeared into his arm. Leaving behind a snake tattoo on his right arm, and a small bite mark along with a tattoo that resembled a star on his right hand. The bite hurt. But something felt odd. There was some new energy force flowing within him.
