"Fine, we'll decide it with rock, paper, scissors."
In a dark simple bedroom, a boy with bright amber eyes that seemed as if they were glowing in the dark, messy hair and simple clothes spoke to a cat sitting on his desk before countless books.
"Yes, I've heard of a game by that name. Let's begin." Merlin spoke with a joyful tone as Isaac suddenly remembered she was new to this world.
With a short countdown, Isaac grinned as they both prepared to reveal their hands.
'She can't possibly make the shape of scissors with those paws.'
Isaac thought as the countdown ended and they both held their hands before them.
Isaac's hand could be seen held in the shape of paper as he grinned widely.
However, his expression quickly changed as he now presented a horrified demeanour.
In Merlin's hands, were a pair of Scissors.
"I win."
Merlin smirked.
Isaac wanted to retort, however, there was no rule stating one couldn't magically summon a physical pair of scissors.
"Well played, Wizard."
Isaac sulked as he turned to face the two books before him.
One being titled 'Highschool DxD', while the other was an even larger book titled 'The Fate Verse'.
Merlin had won, meaning they'd be reading the Fate book tonight.
"You could've at least chosen a verse with more Inheritors stemming from it. I've never seen nor heard anything about this Fate verse."
Isaac flipped open the large book as he mumbled.
"From what I've learned, both verses are S+ Ranked. It is highly unlikely you'll run into anyone from either verse anytime soon. Additionally, this Fate verse specialises in Magic. I'll be interested to see how they utilise it, and maybe this will be what you need to finally get rid of that deep hate you have for magic…"
Before Merlin could finish, in a typical street cat manner, her ears perked as her pupils dilated and head snapped toward the window.
"What's wrong?" Isaac asked, noticing her strange behaviour.
She still remained in her usual calm cocoon, but seemed highly concentrated on something.
After a slight pause, Merlin answered while still staring at the window.
"I've suddenly felt a powersurge coming from that direction."
Isaac looked back at the window, concentrating for a second before shrugging his shoulders.
"I don't feel anything."
"That's either because the individual behind the power is trying to mask it, or is in an area that is hiding it."
Saying this, Merlin looked to Isaac.
"Shouldn't we go?"
Isaac raised an eyebrow as he ultimately looked back to face the book.
"Yeah, right. Like I'll let your curiosity be the end of me. Why would we go toward the immense power?"
"Don't you have a secret identity for situations like these?"
Merlin asked, to which Isaac shook his head.
"The Figure? Please, it's been eleven days since I fought Katlynn and the school is still investigating. Sometimes I can even notice one of the professors walking through the forest."
"Besides, this is Aurelius' affair. It has nothing to do with me. The figure was simply a means to enact my revenge."
Merlin turned her head once again, as her ears relaxed.
"Nevermind. The power has disappeared. Other than a few professors, nothing seems out of the ordinary."
"Good for them. Now, can we start? I wanna get through this quickly so we can have some time to read my book a little before classes."
Though they didn't need each other to read, Isaac found it somewhat enjoyable to do so. Additionally, she would explain the few things Isaac didn't understand.
He found himself engaging in joint reading so much that his room had practically turned into a small library.
Though he didn't know how Merlin felt about it, he assumed she didn't mind as she tolerated it.
"Okay, let's start." Merlin answered.

"Now, I know almost two weeks have passed since the incident, but I think this still needs to be said."
A large man with a scar traced upon his forehead and scruffy ginger beard spoke with a rumbling tone as six students stood before him.
The Golden Six, each seeming calm and composed, stood with a straight back and didn't move a muscle.
"What you did that day was irresponsible and rash. Not only did you put your lives at risk, but something could have happened to Ms Wilson."
No words were spoken as Harrison eyed the students.
"You're mistaken, sir. We saved Ms Wilson." Cain broke the silence as he spoke, still facing ahead as if he were a soldier before his sergeant.
Meanwhile, Amara nudged as she was taken aback by his comment.
"Excuse me? Saved her? From what, an Inheritor who was able to best her? Ms Wilson, an Inheritor far superior to all of you combined in every imaginable category. And you were trying to fight the person who nearly killed her."
As soon as Harrison finished, Cain nodded.
"Yes. We did what we thought was right at the time. Everything turned out alright and if I were to go back, I'd do it again."
Harrison simply stared with a menacing glare in his eye as he looked around.
"Does anyone else feel this way?" He asked.
"My only regret is that I was fast enough to get there sooner." Daniel commented as Harrison turned his eyes to him.
"At the time, it seemed like the most logical approach. We were the first to notice, and the consequences of doing nothing seemed far more unnerving than taking matters into our own hands."
Lucy continued.
"Although I was the last to face the intruder, I agree with the others." Amara followed, sighing at the fact that the others lacked any filter.
"Cain and I engaged with the Intruder the most, sir! Although I got hurt, I'd rather that than the intruder causing any more harm."
Jett spoke in a louder tone as he mustered the courage to speak.
Although his main reason for fighting was his ideology, he did want to save Katlynn and stop the intruder from causing anymore harm.
"I agree." Ava finished in a determined expression that still looked in character for her empathetic self.
Harrison stared, sighing shortly after as he turned to his chair, taking a seat.
"You were lucky. Whether the intruder was weakened from Katlynn's battle, or he was simply mocking you, count yourselves lucky you didn't die."
The others showed no reaction, but had a few thoughts. Although Daniel could be seen letting out a slight 'Tsk'.
"But other than that, great job. Warriors like you are what we aim to cultivate in this institute." Harrison added, as Cain and a few others smiled upon hearing this.
"I trust you'll keep these matters to yourself. You're dismissed."
As the six turned and prepared to leave, they stopped once again.
"Except for you, Jett. The rest of you leave."
Jett jumped a little upon hearing his name, remaining rooted in his position as he cursed inwardly.
As Cain opened the door and stepped out, he turned to the others.
"What do you think he needs from Jett?"
Before he could get an answer, he noticed the others staring into the hallway as he followed their sight.
As he did, he was met with an amber-eyed boy with messy hair that stood before them.
"Probably that." Amara commented as they watched the boy spare them a quick glance, passing them and entering the office.
Upon seeing the boy, they already knew what this was all about. After all, this was the most popular news in school, even reaching Spawn.
"Ah, Isaac! Perfect timing. Close the door, please." Harrison suddenly switched his expression as he presented a bright smile.
Isaac complied, closing the door while the rest of the Golden Six were left wanting to know more.
"Now, I believe your Grandfather has explained everything set to happen one week during our visit to Ashton?" Harrison asked, to which Jett nodded.
"Good. Now, despite my rivalry with Grandmaster Hale, don't let that taint the good sportsmanship between the two of you."
Due to all the gossip, rumours and news, Harrison wanted to bring the two closer before the rivalry and media soured their relationship between the two.
At least, that's what Isaac thought.
'If we're friends, it might lead to Jett going easy on me, or lessening the severity in which he'll win. Like knocking me out of the ring rather than pummelling me. It'll look better for Harrison this way.'
"I want the two of you to get to know each other, grab a drink together from time to time. Now, I'm not forcing you, do as you please. It's just my suggestion."
Isaac inwardly rolled his eyes as Harrison continued to talk.
"Okay, you're dismissed." Harrison smiled as the two students nodded, exiting the room as Isaac noticed the Golden Six still waiting outside.
"Let go of me, I'm going to train."
"Please Daniel, just wait for Jett. I really have something important to tell you all."
Isaac witnessed Cain holding onto Daniel's arm, dragging him as they all paused upon hearing the door open.
Isaac and Jett separated as Jett headed toward the group and Isaac walked toward his next class.
"Are you really going to fight him? Have you asked Vice Principal Harrison why he's wasting your time?"
Amara spoke with little to no consideration as Cain snapped his head toward her.
"Amara, I'm pretty sure he can hear you." Cain whispered.
It was then that Amara looked as if a glowing light bulb appeared above her head.
"Good idea, we should just ask him. Hey!"
Isaac paused in his steps as he turned his head with a straight face, inwardly sighing.
The Golden Six could be seen showing different reactions as they watched Amara step forward, pointing her finger.
"Let me ask you a question."
