Chapter 3 - Part 2

"Marielle!" Agustin's voice resonated at the coast of Bosque Dorado. "Marielle, there you are!" he ran as fast as he could while the waves and sand slowed down his every step. A tight embrace was all he wanted, but he was paralyzed by electrical shock from the tips of Marielle's trident. Agustin did not expect the trident to come out of nowhere.

"You got him good!" Marielle's brother remarked.

They pulled Agustin and swam toward the horizon. However, Griss the hippogryph used his claws to swiftly grab Agustin from the water. Gaining his consciousness, he saw Adviser Lorenzo riding Griss.

"¡Príncipe, agárrate de mi mano!" Adviser Lorenzo said with a firm voice that fights against the strong wind. Agustin took his hand so he was pulled onto Griss's saddle.

Lorenzo hears Agustin mumbling his words. "You must rest until you recover, su alteza!" Lorenzo advised. They flew past the walls of Ciudad Elmond and landed on the Palace's ground. Lorenzo assisted Agustin in walking the Palace floors. Then they arrived at the King's throne.

"Su majestad! El Príncipe was paralyzed!" Adviser Lorenzo reported. "He was attacked by La seres marinos!"

"From what I have observed, I assume your Bosque Dorado visits were to meet them. You let them into your heart and look how the tables have turned!" The King rebuked. "Those devils cannot be trusted!"

"They aren't the devil... You are!" Agustin countered his father's words. "We have enough wealth to progress this kingdom. However, your greed has left us all at the bottom of the list. These frailes were poisoning you, but you connived in exchange for gold. For what? To send troops and colonize more land? To enslave not just our mankind but also the order of life?!"

"Su Majestad, las palabras del príncipe son tonterías." The frair who was beside the throne asserted that Agustin was wrong.

"Ya está. Take this young man to the dungeon!" The King commanded heavily. "From now on, your title of príncipe as the throne's heir is now terminated!"

The guards took Agustin's arms and lifted him on their way out of the palace. He could barely move and stand so he could not do anything if he intended to resist. Tossing him into the seat of a prisoner's carriage.

An hour has passed. Agustin was dragged through the dungeon and locked in a fortified room. The moment he turned around, he saw Queen Miguelina, his mother. She was chained up on her bed. She appeared skin and bones with messy hair. Agustin, without hesitation, held his mother in his arms and cried at her thin and torn dress.

Meanwhile at Puerto Esmeralda. Dozens of war vessels set sail outside the Roeñan Eastern Sea. It was just outside the national map of Roeña where the merfolks thrive. They would close the sails and point the cannons at the deep waters. The merfolks' response was to launch their tridents and cause a leak in the ship's hull. But their distance was risky, which was taken advantage of by the humans as an opportunity to open fire. These cannon balls were not ordinary. It was enchanted by the wizards to maintain its force of momentum so that it could kill underwater. Annihilating more than half of the merfolk army in an instant.

Unnoticed by the authorities, Marielle could sneak and dress in their uniform. Preparing her breath with her arms up high before she yells, "Eu invoco, o Kraken!"

A flash of light came from below, and then colossal tentacles came out. It pulled the vessels down to the bottom along with the men. Suddenly, Marielle was sprayed with a certain perfume which took her consciousness. Without the summoner, the Kraken will disappear far into the abyss. A couple of war vessels escaped and retreated to Roeña.

A night has passed and the sun has risen. Agustin was awakened from his uncomfortable slumber on the floor when the door was kicked open. It was the guards, unlocking the chains of his mother as she screamed and resisted.

"Oye, ¿dónde la llevas?!" Agustin exclaimed aloud. Yet none of the guards replied. So Agustin pushed them away and threw a punch before he was knocked out by a rifle's stock. He lay down with his fading sight and a lady with red hair so familiar was also imprisoned in another cell. But even with a spark of curiosity, Agustin slept through. He was awakened when an empty sack that concealed his head was pulled off. He looked around and noticed that he was restrained and dropped at the center of the city called, "Is this La Rotonda de la Muerte?" then turning his gaze ahead of him, he saw the King standing behind the shackled queen. He was kneeling on the ground while his mother was tied to a pole and her feet stood at the charcoal.

The King stepped closer and whispered in the queen's ear, "Despídete to your beloved son."

"What are you doing? No!" Agustin shouted at the top of his lungs.

Queen Miguelina however, took a long silence before her weak voice finally uttered, "Adiós, Agustin." The King gestured and the executioner with a blazing torch, fired up the charcoal. Queen Miguelina screamed in agony as the fire burned her feet, and it crawled all the way to her head. It was at this moment, the demented Queen Miguelina met her demise. Agustin was left speechless. The monarch officials, religious bodies, and civilians watched the queen's painful death. Some are entertained as if her cry was music, and some have silently honored her passing. However, Lorenzo took a rifle and shot the guards in the vicinity. This allowed Agustin to fight and release his wrath. The civilians and officials fled yet the guards fought without the military. Lorenzo passed him a sword that felt strange in his grasp. Carrying it as he charged towards the King. Yet before he gains such a distance, the King has pronounced, "Te invoco, Valiente, la Mantícora."

A Manticore appeared in front of Agustin and was so aggressive it didn't take a second before almost masticating him to death. Agustin did not want to fight an animal, so he stood back and yelled, "Te invoco, Griss, la Hippogryph!". Griss emerged from thin air and wrestled the beast. While it was distracted, Agustin tried to attack his father. But in a glimpse, he had a loaded gun that shot Agustin in his chest. The adrenaline rush did not stop him from stepping closer and using his sword to decapitate the King's head. The crown was dropped and the head fell to the ground. Agustin took deep breaths and his chest began to ache. They took the queen's lifeless body and Griss carried them until they arrived at the cemetery. They both silently mourned the queen's grave after she had been appropriately buried.

Agustin mounted the saddle on top of Griss, and he said, "Consejero Lorenzo, I must return to the dungeon. I believe someone there I know is imprisoned."

"Voy contigo!" Lorenzo responded. Leaving the bed of corpses immediately and crashing into the dungeon. Agustin together with Lorenzo, made a bloody journey on their way to a certain chamber. There Agustin finds a special someone. "Princesa Marielle! I'm here to save you!"

"Agustin! No, you mustn't! I am a mermaid, and our worlds should remain separate!" Marielle exclaimed.

"I'm weary of this conflict, Marielle. It's time to reshape this world from chaos. And that change begins with us," Agustin urged.

"I have no desire for peace with humans, and I have no interest in you. Please, just leave me be!"

"If you truly felt indifferent, you could have let me perish when you discovered me!" Agustin insisted. "What you did is proof that change is possible among us all. The moment that this war ends, lives will continue for several generations and peace will bring enlightenment." Agustin gently took Marielle's hand through the bars of the cell and said, "I have never thought about this, but I fell in love. You turned my world upside down, you ignited this fire in my heart, with you… I'm in paradise. ¡Te amo, Marielle!"

Lorenzo showed up panting and losing his balance, telling them, "I'm sorry to interrupt, I have no more ammo and reinforcements are on their way." Agustin quickly unlocks the cell and Marielle is freed. She noticed the blood that stained Agustin's tunic, but his only response was, "It's nothing serious, we must hurry."

Right at the dungeon's exit, Lorenzo had his thoughts deeply. "Agustin, you two must leave without me," Lorenzo spoke gently, yet Agustin could not accept his wishes. "Take yourselves to Gael del Sur, the only province far and within the southern portion of the island. I will mislead the army in the opposite direction. This will be my last advice, I await your approval, por favor."

"It's a great advice, Consejero. ¡Acepto!" Agustin had his tears rolling as he shook hands with Lorenzo. Altogether, they declared "Adiós"

Lorenzo ran up north, while Agustin and Marielle flew at the back of Griss toward the south. Swiftly reaching the heavens beyond clouds.
