She was unlike anything I had expected, Her cold blue eyes stared at me with a look of familiarity in them, and on her lips played a sad smile. I thought ghosts couldn't cry, but I could see tears in the eyes of the woman I called mother. Her presence exuded a mixture of sorrow and strength, a testament to the burdens she had carried in life. And then, just like a dream, it all changed and she lurched at me with murderous intent.
"Stop the ritual!" John screamed just before the phantom of my mother could reach me. Elara immediately broke concentration, while me on the other hand was on the ground panting for air. What had happened? Why did my own mother suddenly attack me?! Had the ritual gone wrong somehow, or did I do something wrong?
John rushed to my side and helped me up from the floor, the look on his face one of disappointment and concern. "Are you alright?" He asked as he helped me up from the floor.
